One season wonders 10 or so episodes long:

Netflix - House on haunted hill (loved this, but if you scare easily like me you'll need to watch through your fingers Grin

Netflix: Dark - German mystery sci-fi where people dissappear in the woods and is a total mind fuck Grin

Amazon - Trapped (isolated town in a Iceland gets snowed in with a murderer on the loose.)
Black Spot (a reviewer likened it to 'Twin Peak's strange French cousin' and I'd agree)

Try: Luther

Strikeback
Forgotten
The Wire (I had to put subtitles on)
Hope you manage to get comfortable. How did you do it? My friend broke her sternum falling onto the corner of her chest of drawers, ouch! X

flissfloss65 · 14/01/2019 23:26

Tom Clamcey’s Jack Ryan on Amazon prime. Really good plot with lots of unexpected twists.

RagingWhoreBag · 14/01/2019 23:33

The Kominsky Method (really wish there was a 2nd series! Made us cry but also really charming)

Kidding (Jim Carrey - don't usually like him, but this was great, moving, funny, dark)

Currently binging Mad Men - wasn't sure to start with, but its grown on me and I'm somehow 7 seasons in!

Crazy Ex Girlfriend - first 2 series were hilarious, went a bit weird after that, but still worth a watch for series 1 alone.

OMG - This is Us - yes.

Ozark again, first season was brilliant. Second also good.

Big Little Lies, amazing cast of awesome female actors. Season 2 coming soon.

sweetkitty · 15/01/2019 00:46

I’ve watched 6 episodes of Man Men today!

I’m not getting it, I know what it’s about but there’s no real
story to follow, will persevere

Yeah, I think it's more character development than story tbh - I started watching it once before and all the smoking pissed me off and I just didn't get it! But when I watched it again the second time I'm pretty sure I was hooked by ep 6 so maybe it just isn't for you?

Definitely try a couple of the shorter ones - The Kominsky Method and Kidding, were both one series each, both dark and sad in ways but funny and quirky too.

How are you feeling?

blibblibs · 15/01/2019 18:30

Outlander
Haunting of Hill House
Vikings
Last kingdom
Jack Ryan
Game of thrones

Did you watch the first six episodes from the first series? If so, you should have picked up on the narrative arc that traces across the whole of Mad Men regarding Don's identity. It's one of the most skillful examples of story telling you'll see as it is so far reaching and so cleverly designed and developed across the decades the series cover.
However, I agree that Mad Men doesn't often give instant gratification although there are plenty of turns that will shock you to the core. And the realisation of how much things have changed in just a few decades I find fascinating, like the pregnant women chain smoking.
Hope you start to enjoy it!

zukiecat · 15/01/2019 19:17
