Fiona Bruce first time in the chair. What do we think?

I find her too softly spoken and I think she is guiding the panel too much.

Mind you it’s only been 10 mins so I will give her a chance.

She'll take a while to fill those shoes and find her own style. I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt for a few months.

jessstan2 · 10/01/2019 23:01

I've just started watching (from the start), I'd forgotten about it so thanks!

I really like Fiona Bruce and hope she does well. It'll take her a little while to really get into it but we should give her a chance.

Oooh, Melanie Philips is a guest. Should be good tonight.

HollowTalk · 10/01/2019 23:21

I really like Fiona Bruce. Give her a chance, ffs.

Look how she's dealing with James Cleverley - she's being really tough.

AlessandroVasectomi · 10/01/2019 23:23

It’s all Emily Thornberry. Melanie Philips has hardly spoken, Jo Swanson has had a few opportunities and the comedian guy looks completely out of his depth. Fiona is doing a good job of keeping those who are speaking on point.

MajesticWhine · 10/01/2019 23:24

I think Fiona is doing pretty well. And she will doubtless improve as it goes on.

AlessandroVasectomi · 10/01/2019 23:24

*Jo Swinson

IAmNoAngel · 10/01/2019 23:48

I'm hoping she will find her feet quickly, but tonight was the Emily Thornberry show.

Beeziekn33ze · 11/01/2019 02:54

I thought she did well, kept the discussion going. Nish Kumar made an impact at the end and Emily Thornberry is always strong. Both of them, with Jo Swanson, made an impression replying to the question about knife crime. If Boston and Glasgow can achieve improvement so can London.

jessstan2 · 11/01/2019 03:08

Thought she was good and as she goes on, will get better.
Enjoyed the programme.

Beeziekn33ze · 11/01/2019 15:05

Jo SwInson!

HappydaysArehere · 11/01/2019 19:33

I too thought she is too softly spoken for the job, however, she managed quite well and displayed more authority than I expected.

Looked to see if there were already a thread on this (I stead of starting a new one).

I have seen the most recent (2nd) one with Fiona Bruce (but not the first one).

I found it somewhat embarrassing with her interventions and a seeming bias against Diane Abbott. What was all that about? (Of course have now also seen the newspaper coverage on this).

Makes you really appreciate Dimbleby!
