Cuckoo season 5 *spoilers*

I have watched season 5 on BBC and I was disappointed to see Dale not being in it was really glossed over. It just didn't seem the same without him!

I can’t decide whether to bother with it. Him and Greg Davies together made it.

I didn't think much of it unfortunately. I thought the last series lost momentum a little.

I've just watched the first 2. Really disappointed in it :(

I was so excited to see it on I player as I had no idea it was coming out! It's lost something without Dale. I agree with PP Taylor Lautner was brilliant with Greg Davies, it's just not the same. They've not addressed his absence at all, just that he's gone.

Watched ep 1 and disappointed. The new woman is just unbelievable and annoying and I really dislike friend Steve so if they are the subject of this series that's me out. I don't find irritating people fun to watch in a comedy as they aren't funny and you know in real life they'd be ignored by the main characters. It's like the OTT relatives that you just want to go home so you can watch the people in the series you like being funny and dysfunctional without being irritating.

What?? There's another series of Cuckoo but without Taylor Lautner as Dale in it? Is Rachel in it?

Rachel is, but no Taylor Lautner. He was so hilarious in it. There's a new female character, who I think is supposed to replace Dale but she's not a patch I don't think.

@Whitetulipofpeace do they not explain his disappearance at all? I felt like the end of the last series felt like the end, with that dancing scene at the bar, it felt final. I wonder why they decided to do another. Should have left it how it was.

Sorry I can't figure out how to tag on my phone! Rachel at one point just says he's gone, and she has a bit of a chat with her mum about moving on. That's it though. They don't say why or what happened between them at all. I'll just try to forget about it but I need closure!

Taylor Lautner (Twilight) has exited the series ahead of its fifth season. He first joined the showw* for season two back in 2014, when original star Andy Samberg exited due to his commitment to the Fox-turned-NBC comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Lautner’s character Dale left Lichfield as the end of the show’s fourth season after he and Rachel left to go travelling to Sierra Leone. Andie MacDowell has been set as the new lead for the series. She will play Ivy, the sister Ken never knew he had.
“I’m so happy I get to pass my Cuckoo baton to someone as talented as Andie”, Taylor Lautner said in a statement. “She’ll do a great job keeping the Thompson family on their toes! I’ll miss everyone on the show – not least Chief Ken. But not all goodbyes are forever.”

Really should have called it a day. Agree with PP that the chemistry between Chief Ken & Dale was what made it.

It was a shame that Taylor left and at first I did miss him and didn't think I would take to Andi Macdowell, but actually it is a really good and funny season. I've watched all the episodes now and it gets better.

Ive just watched the first two and i thought they were hysterical. Especially compared to Catastrophe which just does not do it for me.

Agree it does get better. What happened to Ken's real solicitor job though? I still see him as the teacher in the Inberweeners. All other jobs are poor substitutes. I don't want another political drama.
