Does anyone know when it’s on?

I tried the faux over lick stitch on my machine, once, and horrified with the amount of faff and thread involved, went back to zigzag edging.

I rarely sew, these days, but pressing a seam open before closing it has to be an AMSR? ASMR? satisfying experience.

Recently got back into knitting after a pain related hiatus, though. I can't believe how much I knew, to forget. Unlike sewing, you can shove an entire knitting project and related tools into a drawer or bag.

This is my latest project, mid rescue from a lapse of concentration. Since doubled in size and with some lacy bits. theknittingspace.com/nurmilintu-knitted-garter-lace-shawl/

Another one (sorry I'm late!) voting for Joe - he's lovely! And what a relief they didn't pick Tom Allen - he ruined Bake Off - the Professionals and An Extra Slice for me, so self-centred and coy. I stopped watching them because of him.

Just went down to make a cuppa and realised not only have I secured said pasta lid tops with laccy bands I have also concealed laccy bands with rustic string tied round and knotted.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/02/2019 08:36

Two years for an apron isn't that long.

A blink of God's mighty eye.

I could have a contender

I had an irrational urge to buy an overlocker from Lidl too. No idea why! I would have no idea what to do with it. 🤔

Haggisfish · 18/02/2019 09:50

I succumbed to Lidl overlocker. It’s still pristine in its box, three years later...Blush

dontcallmelen · 18/02/2019 10:17

Hmm wonders if an overlocker, could enhance my current sewing kit🤔

I spent yesterday making this jigsaw (a reduced bargain from John Lewis) - it is what I aspire to have, minus the cats but plus a whole wool section too.

I am no where near creating such a space - it's a dream!

Me too, although it was Aldi in my case.

SoupDragon · 18/02/2019 10:32

During the series that Heather won, I made myself a pin dog like hers. No staples or wonderweb though.

dontcallmelen · 18/02/2019 10:39

Oh my, both the shawl & puzzle are things of beauty.

FuzzyPuffling · 18/02/2019 11:04

There are some seriously impressive projects going on here.
I'm still cross stitching my way through a second church kneeler (doing ones that have been hidden in other people's cupboards for 15 years (no exaggeration). Brownie points in heaven!
(It's not terribly interesting though)

WindsfromtheNE · 18/02/2019 12:07

Any Cambridge people here who remember Gordon Thodays? God, I could lose days in there.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/02/2019 13:12

Where is your stapler melen?

dontcallmelen · 18/02/2019 14:04

Haha Schaden it broke after the debacle with the trousers.

woollyheart · 18/02/2019 14:25

I was only a visitor to Cambridge but remember visiting Gordon Thodays. What a wonderful shop! Like a bazaar with hundreds of fabrics.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/02/2019 15:44

High tech equipment like a stapler has to be carefully serviced after any heavy task.

Those trousers must have just been a bridge too far.

dontcallmelen · 18/02/2019 16:50

Nods sagely at wise advice.

Fontella · 18/02/2019 17:01

Only one more sleep until Sewing Bee 2!

Think I might have to watch Sewing Bee 1again in readiness.

Sew excited (see what I did there).

It's childrens clothes tomorrow night. Not so excited about that but looking forward to watching it nonetheless!

SoupDragon · 18/02/2019 17:15

I like the little mannequins on children's week :o

I find it particularly amusing when they fall apart. 😂

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 18/02/2019 17:32

I remember Gordon Thoday in Cambridge, although I wasn't in the market for fabric back then! Also Eaden Lilley and Joshua Taylor, both long gone. DH and I were in a shop in Exeter which he said reminded him of Joshua Taylor and a woman who overheard him was overjoyed just to hear the name!

Department stores aren't what they were...

Huntlybyelection · 18/02/2019 18:22

I went a bit mad last week after episode one and spent £50 on fabric from an online shop.

Have I said that already? I don't care. I'm adding it to my ever growing stash and aim to use it to make gorgeous relaxed yet stylish clothes at some point between now and December 2027.

I do love sewing. I have a sewing space in the house and would spend my life up there, happily neglecting work and children for weeks at a time.

FuzzyPuffling · 18/02/2019 18:23

What shop in Exeter was that catfleas?? (Sudden interest as I live nearish Exeter)
