DH and I have some rare time off together and would love something to binge on over the next few days but I can’t find anything that is catching my eye...

We stream and have Netflix/Prime so can can be just about anywhere, I also don’t mind subtitles...

Love dark, crime, phycological dramas and have particularly enjoyed stark Nordic vibe that a lot of recent series have but will watch just about anything with a criminal chase/investigation and interesting characters...

We have loved this year Cardinal, Craith, The missing, Happy Valley, Sharp Objects, The Sinner, The Unibomber, Manhunt & Waco among many more...

What have you watched, enjoyed and would recommend and what have I missed?

Haunting of Hill House - Netflix. Great set to binge on - creepy with fab characters. One of my faves from last year.

Missing by The Lake and the sequel Killer by The Lake - All 4. French subtitled drama similar to La Foret (also good) someone mentioned above. Twisty and interesting. Slightly annoying they swapped the lead actress in series 2 (same character) but apart from that, very watchable and binge worthy.

The Good Place - Netflix. Great new comedy which starts out ever so slightly twee but stick with it! The characters are brilliant and the show runners keep it fresh each new season. Ted Danson is wonderful and you can lose hours binging loads of episodes as it’s so watchable!

Fortitude - Sky. Bit of a slow burn but interesting. Lots of episodes so great for a long binge session!

If you like real crime shows then The Staircase (Netflix) is great. Much better than making a murderer IMO.

Thanks all, that’s a good start!

We have seen a lot of the suggestions here but definitely a few that have skipped by us, liked La Foret so might try Missing by the lake, also quite fancy La Mante and Rectify

But first (seeing as our new year guests have just left) Luther!!!

Rectify isn't on netflix is it?

Twitchintervention · 17/01/2019 10:14

@Fiddie no but said on my op that didn’t need to be we stream lots...It’s good, really well acted but it’s not sit on the edge of your seat stuff and IMO not great for a binge!

If anyone else is following this for ideas, we have just finished The First and absolutely loved it, was discribed as a Sci-fi but it wasn’t really (set 15-20 years from now) quite a deep and at times, dark drama, really, really good!!

Still needing ideas!!

irishe · 20/01/2019 01:31

Oh and Dark on Netflix

BlueBelle81 · 20/01/2019 01:38

I've just started the Americans ( 1st 5 seasons included inPrime) it seems very promising.
For French stuff The Frozen Dead and the Break were decent crime 1 season-long shows;the Chalet was great.. Not Crime dramas, but Marseille, Call My Agent, The Hook Up Plan were all really good. Deep is to avoid at all costs!!!

IWantMyHatBack · 20/01/2019 01:43

You've seen The Bridge, yes?

Broadchurch is excellent and bingey

Thequaffle · 20/01/2019 01:59

Killing Eve was superb

ItsReallyOnlyMe · 20/01/2019 10:02

I recommend Making a Murderer. It’s actually a true crime documentary which starts in 1985, though the story line really begins in early 2000s and all real footage is used. Fascinating and addictive - truth is stranger than fiction ! It actually runs to two series, which at the start is unbelievable but unfolds !

gentlyscented · 20/01/2019 10:13

Ozark
The last kingdom

Pinkruler · 05/02/2019 16:39

Happy Valley series 1 and 2. Spoiler: it's not that happy!

Pinkruler · 05/02/2019 16:42

Sorry see you have already seen Happy Valley...the Tunnel is good

Moondancer73 · 05/02/2019 18:36

Peaky blinders, Luther, silent witness. Weeds is very good too - I don't smoke I should add but it had me hooked. And, of course, greys anatomy

Moondancer73 · 05/02/2019 18:37

Oh, and west world
