I thought Trinity wasn't as strong on this episode, but was consistent all the way through and deserved to win.

It was all kinds of weird. The editing was the thing that pissed me off the most.

My theory is that all previous all stars winners have been white, they had four black women in the finale and crowing the only white solan (however deserved) would have been seen as a race agenda. And that Shangela controversy last year probably fuelled it.

Butt out of interest, can you explain what you mean about the editing? I'm not very clued up on the nuances! I thought it was ok? did watch it with a hangover yesterday

Blameit - dd said that if you watch carefully you never see Trinity and Monet together in the same shot with the crowns.

In previous years they taped 4 "wins". I'm not sure how it went down this year. But that could explain how they walked the runway separately in split screen.

I do think both were the strongest at the last. Trinity edged it for me.

Same @ButtMuncher, the editing was terrible and clearly done in haste. My theory was that they were intending to crown trinity all along, and that they felt they had to do a double crowning because Monet was the clear winner of the lip sync and the reaction along with crowning the white queen would have been terrible.

I also read another interesting theory on Reddit...so both queens got 100k. this means that there was 200k in the pot, and that it was the plan for Latrila given the double crown as a redemption for AS1 (this would have been brilliant). Obviously this didn't happen because of Manila's elimination and Latrice bombing.

Overall I'm really chuffed that Monet at least shared the win, I just wish it could have been with Monique! The wig 'reveal' was hilarious in the lip sync. Also loved Monique attempts at a cartwheel

Agreeing with everyone. They couldn’t not crown Trinity, but they couldn’t not crown a black queen either. I do love Monet (her drag name is my favourite ever ) but I don’t think she has all star quality particularly - mainly because her runways are so consistently shonky.

The editing was SO bad too. Clearly they’d filmed both “winning”, as they always do, and decided to crown both at the last minute. So lame!

They've filmed alternate endings in RPDR for ages - however they've always shown them with at least a level of consistency. Last night you could see that they had filmed individual crowings, then presumably in the editing stage decided to crown both of them - so rather than them both stand on stage and receive the crown together, like you'd expect to see, they split screened it and there was this really odd voice over from Ru which seemed totally at odds with the judging stages which randomly crowned both winners. Normally you'll see Ru actually announce the queen who has won, much like most decision making she does. It was so badly spliced together I was just gooped.

I agree that Trinity won based on overall performance but that Monet won on lip sync. If Trinity had been crowned and not Monet, you'd have the race controversy and the fact she pulled a better LS. And I guess after the Shangie stuff last year, Ru didn't want to go down the path of inciting more shit. Then we had the controversy with Vixen and Eureka which borderline crossed into racism off screen, with Eureka totally missing the mark on white privilege and I think it was just dodgy not to crown someone black.

The editing though, ugh.

I caught up on the final last night. I said to my husband (had no idea who had won?!) that trinity was the winner but that I didn't think they'd say she'd won because all the previous winners had been white. How awful that surely it should just be on how good they've been rather than what race they are. But I do like monet. They got the top two right but having two winners just doesn't do it for me.

I really really want to know when they were actually told. I'm going over to r/RuPaulsDragRace for the tea!

Meh. Trinity was the standout for me after Manila went. Half way through the final I decided that Monet actually irritated me. She really does lack polish and that pink panther thing last week was a horror. Double crown seems like a cop out to me.

I really love fashion but I’m so bored of queens doing replicas! I’d love someone to step outside the box.
Manila, Monique and Monet were my top 3 before it started so I am glad Monet won. I hope that’s the last All Stars for a while, the last few episodes were really underwhelming.
I just wish they’d just picked one winner. Manila deserved it alongside Raja back in S3!
