Check out “The Crown” on Netflix
www.netflix.com/title/80025678?s=i&trkid=13752289

Ok, a little offshoot from the Royal S&G thread.
We’re going to discuss the clothes and the storyline.

Épisode 1, Séries 1: Wolferton Splash.

One a week so we can savour and discuss!

So the first dress the young princess Elizabeth wears, dusky rose with bows is SO dowdy for such a young woman. Even making allowances for the time its like she was dressing as a much older more serious role. Her weddings dress is obviously beautifully made but strangely ill fitting on her. I might have to go and Google the real one to see how it actually fit. Really sad to see how close princess Margaret and her father were. His early death must have contributed hugely to her horrendous behaviour later in life.

His death was huge for Margaret, although Elizabeth was the heir, she had moved on to married life and was living as an officers wife.

Margaret was the available daughter of the King and quickly found herself the Queens lesser sibling

I do wonder about the veracity of the quote which is very harsh

"Elizabeth is my Pride and Margaret is my Joy"

"NO THAT WASN'T IT! BUT! BUT MARGARET IS MY JOY!"

Margaret needed to believe she was his favourite if not his heir but very harsh on Liz

I'd like to know Margaret's relationship with her father was like too. Forming an attachment to an older man immediately after his death does make me wonder. She was a fair bit younger than HM so would've only been 20 or 21 when he died.
