HIGNFY

Anyone see Danny Dyer on HIGNFY last night? It was painful to watch. He could barely read the autocue, his 'cockney' slang fell flat and no one seemed to understand his references to EE. Even Paul Merton seemed to take pity on him and more or less ignored him. Bad call from the BBC to let him host a show he clearly couldn't manage.

And his language!

Optimist1 · 08/12/2018 09:59

Couldn't agree more! He didn't allow for the usual back-and-forth banter following a question - just took back the reins as soon as someone had offered one answer. Everyone seemed to just sit back in their chairs and let him get on with it (out of kindness, I guess). I'm struggling to remember a worse presenter.

FlamingJuno · 08/12/2018 10:02

It was a very poor show all round really. I love Judy Murray but she didn't have anything to say, the other woman wasn't funny and Hislop did most of it. Bit rubbish.

TFSRM · 08/12/2018 10:10

I must be in the minority as he was much better than I was expecting. And Sara Pascoe is brilliant.

lazymum99 · 08/12/2018 10:59

He turned it into the Danny Dyer show and he was rubbish. Like an eastend caricature.

TheQueef · 08/12/2018 11:06

HIGNFY were doing so well with female presenters.
I love Jen Saunders, loved Steph thought she was excellent. Don't mind VCM and enjoy Jo Brand especially.

Why they scraped Dyer to present after a few great female presenters, maybe as a contrast?

The80sweregreat · 08/12/2018 11:12

He was ok ; I guess you have to get mockney humour!
I thought Paul was quite rude really.
I suppose I have a bit of soft spot even if he is annoying at times. At least it was someone different from the usual crowd!

SoupDragon · 08/12/2018 11:39

Rudeness to the host/guests/team leaders is pretty much expected isn't it? It's "banter".

It was Danny Dyre's gurning face that irritated me the most.

TSSDNCOP · 08/12/2018 11:42

Danny Dyer is such a twat.

LaurieFairyCake · 08/12/2018 11:47

Judy Murray and Sara Pascoe were excellent

Not keen on Dyer, he got better towards the end though

Mrscaindingle · 08/12/2018 11:48

I don't much like Danny Dyer but I thought Paul was a bit rude tbh as though he thought it was all a bit beneath him. His jokes did fall a bit flat but surely Paul as a regular should have been trying to play along a bit. Anyway I doubt he'll be asked again.

Clionba · 08/12/2018 11:49

He was dreadful. When he was reading the autocue it looked like he was drugged. Sara Pascoe and Judy Murray are good guests, but on that programme, the host needs to be quick. I agree with pp, Steph McGovern was great.

Timetobealive · 08/12/2018 11:50

Haven’t watched it yet but he was awful on celebrity gogglebox effing and blinding with his daughter. He was like a caricature.

I thought he got better as it went on and he relaxed, it’s good to have a bit of variety.

Clionba · 08/12/2018 12:26

Victoria Coren Mitchell

greenlanes · 08/12/2018 12:26

I didnt think either guest was that good yesterday and I normally like both Judy Murray and Sara Pascoe when they are on other shows.

The80sweregreat · 08/12/2018 12:40

Judy Murray is always the same on everything, fairly laid back and unassuming I think. She can take a joke and comes across as quite normal and nice. I have always liked her (although I've never met her)
Sara seems sweet as well.

lazymum99 · 08/12/2018 12:44

The guests should have been good but Dyer didn't let them have a chance.
Steph McGovern was brilliant. She should do it permanently and forget about those idiotic shopping programs.
