g&g tango

I found it but I think it’s the BBC official YouTube channel so I suspect it won’t work.

Is it because of music rights possibly? As all in movie week?

ThursdayLastWeek · 07/11/2018 21:46

X post Grin

I have some very different opinions on some series with hindsight

Ooh, I loved Jay and Aliona.

Still bitter about Danny Mac losing though. And I keep forgetting who won last year - honestly, the least memorable winner ever.

covetingthepreciousthings · 07/11/2018 22:09

I'm excited to see Faye & Joe Varneys Jove this weekend, although I doubt I'll watch her as he is too mesmerising when he does the jive. His footwork is amazing with such ease.

SheStoodInTheStorm · 07/11/2018 23:25

I feel I need to do some Googling of Danny Mac! Didn't watch it last year.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 07/11/2018 23:31

Danny Mac was a pleasure to watch, right from the first week. He obviously had tons of dance training, but his dances made me happy and gave me spine tingles so I didn't care. It's a contrast to Ashley, who seems like a nice enough person and is obviously technically very good, but I don't feel anything when she dances.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 08/11/2018 01:45

I loved Aliona right from her first series Grin
Controversially I didn't really get the appeal of Jay! Obviously that jive was incredible but apart from that...

Kate and Aljaz's dance this week is wedding themed. I expect the cheese factor to be high.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 08/11/2018 04:28

I’m the same about Jill Halfpenny, Gareth, I’ve just watched her winning jive again to see if It looks any better but no, I still hate it. It was very spikey and gurny, the choreography was cheesy and old fashioned. The forrin professionals have brought a lot of flair into the programme, and raised the game I reckon.

shestood find Danny Macs American Smooth to Misty Blue...truly beautiful and spine tingling.

Yes, he clearly had dance training but just had that indefinable quality that made him so watchable and engaging.

ThursdayLastWeek · 08/11/2018 07:29

I think cheesy and old old fashioned is exactly how I’d describe Darren Bennet so that makes sense!

Ditto Jay. That Jive was amazing, but it was more the inspired choreography and the music arrangement that I loved than the dancers themselves.

And I seem to disagree with the consensus on Danny Mac. I didn’t think he was any less faux self deprecating than any of the other ringers I’ve not taken to!

covetingthepreciousthings · 08/11/2018 07:40

@SheStoodInTheStorm Just watched all of his dances week by week, it's hard to tell the whose the pro in a lot of them!
That samba though. watched countless times in our house..

HumbleCrumble · 08/11/2018 13:24

I can't see Danny doing too well in the Samba, he's too stiff. The perfectionist types tend to struggle with a dance that needs a bit of abandon. Could he be in trouble if he has 2 bad weeks in a row? He obviously got the votes last week though.

Does anyone else feel like they're kind of setting up Neil to be the new Anton with all this "comedy" stuff? And they gave him a duffer-friendliness test run with Judy Murray in the Christmas special...

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 08/11/2018 14:38

I really hope not, Humble because it’s not his forte. I found that bit he did on ITT agonising to watch. The funniest thing about it was his gum chewing dance partner. Quite liked her!

Thanks for that @OzzyMadBat going to read it on my commute home

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 08/11/2018 18:49

Danny Mac's best dances: samba, charleston, jive, American Smooth...

So glad there is at least one other person who didn't rate Jill's jive! I didn't watch Strictly then, but heard so much about it that I watched it on YouTube and was so disappointed!

Dances I really love to watch over and over - Giovanni and Georgia's Charleston, and also Brendan and Sophie's.

GrouchyKiwi · 08/11/2018 19:10

I was so disappointed when Danny Mac & Oti did their samba in the final instead of their chacha. I'd have loved to see that again once he'd learned everything. It was SO GOOD for a first dance and I rewatch it often. It's also great because it's super Gloti. She was so delighted to get a good dancer.

GrouchyKiwi · 08/11/2018 19:11

Oh, and Living I watch those too.

I can't decide whether I like St Jill's jive. The video is not good enough quality.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 08/11/2018 19:31

Myimaginarycathasfleas I liked Jill's jive haha! Although the comments on this thread have me questioning Grin

I didn't watch S1-5 but I really like the "old" choreography. It was inspired imo. In fact I don't rate the pro choreo in the past 3 or 4 seasons!!! The old stuff looks more similar to the competition routines on youtube.

I understand Matthew (Curtains) Cutler used to choreograph a lot of the pro dances.

I think my fave pros were all the early ones - Matt Cutler, Erin (plus Anton in pro ballroom numbers! He's v useful as a duffer magnet mind), Lilia Kopylova and Darren Bennett, Brendan, Camilla Dallerup, Ian Waite, even the Jordans in their own special way Grin
Then I loved Kristina, Natalie Lowe, Artem, Pasha and Aliona. I really liked Brian Fortuna even though he wasn't everyone's cup of tea! Great dancer.
And Trent, Gleb and yummy Tristan McManus Blush

I think that concludes my list of ultimate Strictly pros!

I quite like AJ, Katya (sans scandal) and Oti in the current line up. Haven't really seen enough of Neil. I've majorly gone off Gio, Gorka and Aljaz Confused

Can do without everyone else Grin

I'm off to look up the full list as I'm sure I've missed a few.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 08/11/2018 19:45

I forgot to include Karen Hardy, Vincent and Flavia and Iveta!

Figgygal · 08/11/2018 20:18

Jay wasn't a one dance winner though he did a great Dr who Charleston and Samba too. I loved all his dances he and Aliona are my favourites no question just above Danny and Oti

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 08/11/2018 20:18

It was SO GOOD for a first dance and I rewatch it often.

OMG, how could I forget the chacha?! I loved that dance and have watch it so many times! Her squeal at the end is priceless when she realises that he nailed it Grin Best first dance EVER.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 08/11/2018 20:46

I liked Jay's Tango too, and the halloween one which I think was an American Smooth.
