Hoping this gets posted in time - and that there is still plenty to say on the matter!

I am not wearing tight little shorts for anyone especially not PH unless you want to see more wobble that that of a combined jelly and Angel Delight in a rubbery bowl on the back seat of a car with no suspension going over a potholed cobbled street. Anyway, you get my gist.

However, I will happily show up to the garden party when Gremlins is crowned (bowled?) winner and graciously accept the thanks for all the marvellous support I have offered throughout. And I'll do my special "Winner Dance with Added Rap". (Autocorrect wanted Adder Rap, which may be correct after all)

SneakyGremlins · 03/11/2018 18:56

You lot are insane! Grin

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 03/11/2018 19:03

Go Gremlin!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 03/11/2018 19:04

We like to think so! I'm confident that it has saved me from many a jail sentence. Grin

I will PM you my mother's secret Charlotte recipe she you get in.

Project Garibaldi had to be aborted.

I bought the magazine, but the recipe's not there. Now, I clearly remember browsing and seeing it, so unless I had biscuit induced hallucinations, it might have been somewhere else.

I even bought the raisins for it.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 04/11/2018 18:30

Twilight Zone moment Chardonnays

Happens to me all the time. When you find the recipe, you will discover that the raisins have disappeared, as though into a parallel universe. Pray that they are not replaced with a bag of out-of-date squashed flies . . .

I am always certain I have put something in a particular place but I swear the cats move it.

VanillaSugary · 04/11/2018 19:51

Well, I'm very affronted that you people have forgotten that I applied for GBBO - FIRST

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 04/11/2018 20:38

good luck Vanilla.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 04/11/2018 21:34

I KNEW that someone else had applied! I am sorry that in the flurry of yak-related activity I had forgotten who (Ungulates always get me over-excited)

You go girl.

Have to admit that if it comes down to a bake off between gremilns and his yak and you and your - what IS your signature dish? - we will be torn . . .

VanillaSugary · 04/11/2018 21:38

My signature dish is Humble Pie.

Kim Joy will be on Loraine tomorrow talking about Bonfire Night Treats. I think she was lined up to be the winner TBH.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 04/11/2018 21:49

You are too modest.

I didn’t forget, Vanilla. In fact I’ve been very excited since you promised us all an invitation to the end of season garden party. I’m confident I will be on posting terms with at least two of the finalists. Grin

bookbook · 04/11/2018 22:41

I hadn't forgotten either, honest!
I have been spending time looking for a garibaldi recipe for Chardonnay , but I cannot put my hand on my copy of Mrs Beeton ( where I think it could be) - its not in the Constance Spry, and I even resorted to my copy of Escoffier with no luck . I don't think it will be in Larousse Gastronomique as its French cooking - could it be in the Be-Ro book? Grin .

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 04/11/2018 22:48

No, it’s not in the Larousse, but Delia has one, so close enough in gastronomic eminence. Grin

Funnily enough, the Larousse was one of the first food books I ever bought, a second hand copy with bits missing. It was a long time ago and I only bought it because I hated eating food at the time, only liked reading about it.

bookbook · 04/11/2018 22:51

I bought my niece a copy when she got married as a small personal gift ( very, very talented cook - she got to the quarter finals in Masterchef) , and she has done all sorts from it - even made her own corned beef Shock

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 04/11/2018 22:57

I’d forgotten all about it.

It’s a very old edition, pink covers, lots of —useless— specialised therminology, all very French.
I think my father still has it, he’s never been able to get rid of a book.

bookbook · 04/11/2018 22:59

ah, so it not one of those books at the front of the bookcase , hiding Delia Smiths 'cheat at cooking' book? Grin

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 04/11/2018 23:00

No, that’s Ottolenghi these days.

bookbook · 04/11/2018 23:12

show off ! - I have 'Plenty' by him after watching his series on TV a couple of years ago - they looked divine . I have just picked up a new Claudia Roden called Arabesque this weekend in a charity shop for £1 , so looking forward to reading that - I love Middle Eastern recipes

VanillaSugary · 04/11/2018 23:24

Oh yes - Lebanese food is delicious! I've never quite got into Claudia Roden: she does to sultanas what Ottolenghi does to pomegranate seeds.

Thank you for not forgetting. 🍪🍩

Have to say though that Ottolenghi’s apple cake with olive oil was a big disappointment.

whatashower · 05/11/2018 08:49

chardonnay agreed re apple but redeemed by his Very Full Roasted Vegetable Tart* although it is quite a faff

*also from Plenty
