ppeat - Beyond Our Ken was fantastic - so was Around the Horne!

FuzzyCustard · 03/10/2018 18:17

I love your fishy suggestions.

I shall, of course be dancing to Huey Lewis and the News from stickleBack to the Future.

FuzzyCustard · 03/10/2018 18:18

Talking of old radio (wireless?) I used to like Jimmy Clitheroe - The Clitheroe Kid.

covetingthepreciousthings · 03/10/2018 19:04

Obviously not this season... but do you think Zoe Ball getting the breakfast gig will mean she won't do ITT next year?

dontcallmelen · 03/10/2018 19:49

Fuzzy crikey that’s a blast from the blast, I remember listening to the Clitheroe Kid on the radiogram i was very young probably in the mid sixties.

FuzzyCustard · 03/10/2018 20:14

I was very young too "melen". We didn't get a telly til I was 6 so it was the radio all the way.

dontcallmelen · 03/10/2018 20:20

Us too Fuzzy I can clearly remember the radiogram it’d had a wireless & turntable underneath & the other side of the cabinet had a little pull light in it & glass shelves for the cherry b glasses, it was my dm pride & joy.

TheSassyAssassin · 03/10/2018 20:24

Blimey, it's like a foreign language episode on here today! The Clithoroe Kid and radiograms... nope...none the wiser ConfusedGrin

TheSassyAssassin · 03/10/2018 20:25

Clitheroe even...still means nothing .... Blush

ilovesooty · 03/10/2018 20:46

I liked The Clitheroe Kid on the radio too when I was a child.

FuzzyCustard · 03/10/2018 20:56

We're reminiscing sassy. Allow us a little trip down memory lane!

TheSassyAssassin · 03/10/2018 21:01

Were you on the thread (now in Classics I think) about memories from the past? 'Twas lovely and I learnt a lot. So reminisce away Smile

charliebear78 · 03/10/2018 21:02

I am from Clitheroe!!!!

TheSassyAssassin · 03/10/2018 21:10

Oh... ...I assumed The Clitheroe Kid was some kind of superhero character, but guessing actually someone from Lancashire! Grin

dontcallmelen · 03/10/2018 21:35

😍 Fuzzy we need another Bit of a do in Fancypant Towers, cherry B & vol u vents & smelly Afghan.

Clawdy · 03/10/2018 21:45

Jimmy Clitheroe was also from Clitheroe! Strange but true.

fussychica · 03/10/2018 23:06

Nice to be amongst my own kind on here - old folk who remember the Clitheroe KidShockGrin

ppeatfruit · 04/10/2018 07:51

Yes we're the best fussy Grin , but although I remember the Clitheroe Kid I didn't like him, he was annoying. He's probably the Clitheroe OAP now!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 04/10/2018 09:13

Yes indeed - I can't remember what I've just finished eating for breakfast (checks stains dripped down top - possibly egg), but the Clitheroe Kid and The Billy Cotton Band Show were the highlight of my Sundays.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 04/10/2018 09:16

I assumed The Clitheroe Kid was some kind of superhero character, but guessing actually someone from Lancashire!

Same thing Sassy

SchadenfreudePersonified · 04/10/2018 09:18

Yes - perhaps another Fancypant Towers charabanc trip is on the cards!

ilovesooty · 04/10/2018 09:25

@ppeatfruit sadly he died from an overdose of sleeping tablets aged 51.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 04/10/2018 09:30

Perhaps another Fancypant Towers charabanc trip is on the cards!

I’m in!

FuzzyCustard · 04/10/2018 09:48

YAY. Off to Fancypants Towers...when's the bus arriving? I'm not driving all that way in my Morris Minor. (I actually had a Morris Minor for a while, I loved it)

(This is going to annoy the hell out of all the people who want to talk about footwork and sequins and have no idea what we are on about. Sorry!)

dontcallmelen · 04/10/2018 10:40

Apologies fellow footwork & sequins lovers, just one more little derail
Fuzzy my first car was a Morris Minor, the brakes were very dodgy & I had to practically stand on them to get it to stop, many a near miss of unsuspecting pedestrians.
