As far as I knew (from my sad Apprentice addiction) She's had the job at the Met Office since filming on The Apprentice finished so it wasn't their salary she was quoting.

says the apprentice was filmed in the Autumn and the news artacle said Katie took time out from her job at the met office to film the apprentice so me thinks she was lying and her ex backed her up for the tv interviews and claimed she was still working for him.
