At least she had a hug from -Smithy- Fletch.

MyOtherProfile · 23/01/2019 22:49

Just watched it. Poor Frieda. Thank goodness for the Fletch hug.

QueenofmyPrinces · 23/01/2019 23:09

Just started watching it on iPlayer and for the first time ever I turned it off before the episode had finished becsuse I was bored.

I managed to watch the first 35-40 minutes but then realised I was so bored that I couldn’t be bothered to watch the rest.

This is not a good sign as I’ve been a lover of Holby for as long as I can remember.

Ladymargarethall · 24/01/2019 10:26

I have seen more boring episodes! In fact I gave it a miss for several weeks back in the autumn for that very reason.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 24/01/2019 10:43

Storylines seem to be in a period of 'lull' with things just ticking along (with the exception of Frieda's recent and sudden bereavement).

SleepingStandingUp · 24/01/2019 22:09

I thought it was good. No Dofty. End to the Petroenko Ex. Nicki putting on her big girl pants. Xav getting a shouting at. The niecling is a brat though

Holby is dying a death

I absolutely love Holby but I agree with you. Fingers crossed they can bring in some new script writers and actors to breathe life into it!

tempname111 · 26/01/2019 10:11

Just to note I have loved Serenas transition to grey hair and think it looks fabulous.

tempname111 · 29/01/2019 22:56

Well I rather enjoyed that episode, aside from the unlikely meeting betwixt Freida and angry Dad. His daughter though- what was she in years ago??

Liked the fact they highlighted how devastating cancelling operations can be Sad

Ladymargarethall · 30/01/2019 05:27

How long is it since Elliott let? Gary the dog looked remarkably young and slightly - almost like a different dog. Grin

Ladymargarethall · 30/01/2019 05:27

Sprightly, obvs.

MyOtherProfile · 30/01/2019 07:14

His departure was Sept 2015 apparently. I would have sworn it was longer ago than that.

Ladymargarethall · 30/01/2019 07:37

Prices my point then. Three plus years with Jac and he has rejuvenated.

MyOtherProfile · 30/01/2019 07:41

She clearly has an amazing effect on those who live with her. Is sacha still living with her? Does he look rejuvenated?

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 30/01/2019 09:11

Gosh it seems much longer ago that three to four years since Elliott left.

It was a very politically messaged episode, wasn't it? Wouldn't Ric be forced to resign or sent on gardening leave for making a show like that at the end?

PretendLife · 30/01/2019 10:48

I was actually thinking it was a good episode, more realistic about what the NHS is really like rather than endless self reflection by the staff and dealing with their own relatives all day.

Then the cringefest at the end with Ric spoilt it a bit.....and Jac giving away Emma's dog and Emma not minding about it....she is certainly her mothers daughter isn't she. So now Frieda can have the expense of a dog walker because people who work the hours/shifts that they do are perfect owners for dogs.

ChoccyJules · 30/01/2019 11:30

I too thought Gary was significantly younger and fitter looking.

Ric‘s Speech at the end would surely mean a trip to the CEO‘s office...have they got one? Is it HH again, I can’t keep up (anyone else see Abigail Tait on Death in Paradise last week?)?

But the stress and impossible situations staff are put in, yes, I think it was done well and was true to life. Working in a hospital at the moment is very much like that or worse. Pits caring humans against caring humans (staff:relatives) and it’s awful.

QuilliamCakespeare · 31/01/2019 13:00

I really liked if. Well, perhaps that's not the right work but it felt like a bit of gritty realism for a change.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 01/02/2019 06:59

I would be a terrible doctor.

That teenager with her appendix just made me want to say: well, look, we take your appendix out or you die. Pick one.

Probably better to ship in a doctor from a completely different hospital to deal with her because even while the whole hospital is on black alert or whatever that was, you can have one doctor, SuperEssie and shipped-in doctor all caring for just one patient all day.

Meanwhile Ric, Serena and Sacha treat an entire housing estate of gangsters.

Who shot pregnant woman and why? I stopped concentrating for a bit and then suddenly she was there needing varicose vein man's place.

QueenofmyPrinces · 01/02/2019 07:22

Exactly this!!

I find it hard to believe that AMU would be in complete dire straits with people dying on trollies in the corridor whilst Keller seems as serene as usual and lots of empty bedS in the YAU or whatever it’s called Grin

Aside from that though I really enjoyed the episode and demonstrates well what a crisis the NHS is in at times.

MyOtherProfile · 01/02/2019 09:08

I think she got shot by one of the gangs when she confronted them about taking up beds with their stupid fighting.

SleepingStandingUp · 01/02/2019 10:00

Yeah, "I hate foreigners, they come over here and steal our jobs. Ooh except the ones that box, expecially the slim ones in tight clothes.
His daughter though- what was she in years ago?? yeah her face is soooo familiar. Off to Google....
