New thread for us

I am not a fan of that F1. Does anyone remember her name?

MyOtherProfile · 28/11/2018 06:38

Didnt know her name at all but then Serena called her Leah as she walked away last night.

ChoccyJules · 28/11/2018 10:40

Bye Meena. I think once she had completed a successful procedure (clamping something inside the bleedy man) she knew she could look her parents in the eye as regards medicine, wasn’t all about the make-up and could now go and do what she wanted to do. Probably vlogging about make-up ;-)

That F1 is ridiculous. The way she came in and sat Right Next to Serena on the sofa. Totally daft plotline.

SleepingStandingUp · 28/11/2018 11:26

Yeah she was critic to Xav last week (the Zav spelling of Xavier annoys me) about doing something that she wants to do or something. Meh.
Leah needs to bog off too

CruelWorld · 28/11/2018 23:51

Did anyone pick up on Mo speaking to the F1 Nicky about having to work twice as hard to get half as far. Kudos to the scriptwriters for touching on that.

Such is the reality for a BAME woman today.

Handbaghag · 29/11/2018 08:11

I just thought she was referring to working with Jackie.

Handbaghag · 29/11/2018 08:12

Auto correct. Jac. She would cut my head off if she heard me calling her Jackie!

QueenofmyPrinces · 29/11/2018 08:13

If the comment was in relation to their ethnicity then I don’t think it was very clear.

I thought she was either talking about:

Having to impress Jac
The fact they’re women
Or that CT medicine is very challenging.

HalleLouja · 29/11/2018 08:15

I thought it was the fact that they were black women.

PretendLife · 29/11/2018 09:45

Why didn't Nicky ask Meena what she was going to do now when she told her she was leaving? surely that is the first question you would ask.
I guess that is it now for Meena. Also the picture and branding issue with Gaskill, unless they revisit. Like Abi Tate, just left, no explanation. Perhaps the writers got bored with the story lines as well.

Another miraculous recovery for Jac! 8 surgeries in the past year! 8!! and there she is in full make up, hair done, usual sarcasm.

At least we didn't have Fletch mooning about round her this week.

It was nice to have Mo back (although no mention of her kid, what is it about Holby…). At least we might get rid of Jac for a couple of months while Mo is covering.
This episode was a bit more like Holby used to be, patients being treated, like in real hospitals.

How old is Leah? I'm not sure about her and Serena.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 29/11/2018 09:56

I too thought Mo's comment to Nicky was framed around their ethnicity.

Optimist1 · 29/11/2018 11:56

I had the feeling that Mo had been on the receiving end of that advice earlier in her career, but can't remember for the life of me who was giving it! Jac (in respect of being female)?

OP posts:
Solo · 29/11/2018 12:10

I thought the same as Queenof

SoupDragon · 29/11/2018 16:44

I thought Mo's comment was about 1) their sex and 2) their ethnicity. I didn't think it was to do with Jac.

CruelWorld · 29/11/2018 23:07

Isn’t the general phrase that women have to work twice as hard as men to get to where the man is? I thought Mo was saying that a woman of colour has to work twice as hard and still only get half as far.

CruelWorld · 29/11/2018 23:08

Sorry, that’s not just a phrase, it is a reality.

AGnu · 30/11/2018 11:19

I liked the fact that they didn't specify why people like them had to work harder for less - they both understood without having to spell it out. I also assumed it was a sex/ethnicity reference.

SleepingStandingUp · 30/11/2018 13:16

I actually thought it was about the sort of people they are. Jac is hard nosed and wants Nicky to be the same. She isn't, neither is Mo. Being nice means you have to work harder than those that bully their way through. And also the female / women of colour issues.

Cornettoninja · 30/11/2018 18:53

I really dislike Leah, constant smirk on her face irritates me immensely.

I also thought Mo was referring to being black women surgeons, I also thinks she’s trying to subtly encourage Nicky to stand up to Jac’s evaluation of her.

PretendLife · 01/12/2018 09:42

I thought Mo's comment was about working for Jac. I can't recall any previous story lines where being female/black was a disadvantage?
As far as I am aware that is not an angle that has been covered in Holby before. Mo's comment was far more in context with the exchange that Nicky had just had with Jac.

Ladymargarethall · 05/12/2018 21:10

Have things got so bad with Holby that no one bothered to comment this week?

NutBiscuit · 05/12/2018 21:28

Why does EVERYONE work on their wedding day in Holby??!!

MadCatEnthusiast · 05/12/2018 22:22

Isn't this Lofty's second time getting cold feet?

ChoccyJules · 05/12/2018 22:41

Lofty is such a drip.

Berena is going to get interesting...

TheEfficientBaxter · 06/12/2018 01:48

FFS! Why is no one allowed to be uncomplicatedly happy?

Poor Dom gets his heart broken regularly these days, and it's so unfair.

He's such a lovely lad, and I just wish he could meet the right man, who would love him and make him feel secure.
