i've just watched the next dr who, and it is absofuckinglutely terrifying. i may not sleep tonight.

anyone living in a city with lot of victorian buildings, expect lots of kiddies peeing their pants at the sight of garden and architectural statuary. the 'are you my mummy' one... NOTHING compared to this. [petrified emoticon]

i'm not kidding, by the way. i'd recommend taping and watching it forst to check.

enjoyed them when i was a student, can't imagine reading them now, i must say. dp would be horrified, but am now tempted to get a pratchett cd for the car.

The first part of his surname should tell you something

Blandmum · 10/06/2007 20:35

Tell him to go to Audible.co.uk. You can down load an unabridged reading for £14.99, the cost of an abridged one in my local book shop

newgirl · 10/06/2007 20:47

i hid behind a cushion for the first time in 30 years!!!

it was great so spooky and so sad that lovely looking copper was zoomed back in time - and when he ws an old man alone in his hospital bed - tear-jerking!

NuttyMuffins · 10/06/2007 20:49

My brothers girlfriend was here when it was on, and she grabbed hold of Ds (4) at one point, and he said 'don't worry it's not real'

Nymphadora · 10/06/2007 20:49

Just watched it again and adoes anyone else think Martha is a bit unfriendly to Sally? The Dr is doing his very friendly (the bit whee you think he may fancy someone but he is just being alienly friendly)and she just turns away. then he doens't look happy at Sally & Larry.

dd1 thought Laurence Nightingale was a funny name BTW

Aitch · 10/06/2007 21:05

lol i've watched it twice too. much less scary in daylight. martha is nippy with any women who talk to the doc, i think.

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 10/06/2007 21:06

yes, dd thought L Nightingale was funny too (esp as they have just done Florence Nightingale at school!)

fillyjonk · 10/06/2007 21:08

martha is just odd

she is a pretty weak character, i am hoping for a Twist

would have been nice if they'd pulled out the stops for what is fgs, in what-30 years? the first not white companion (unless you count mickey, i suppose)

squidette · 10/06/2007 21:09

oh, i missed this but the boys said it was good and scary!

I am just about to watch it on tvlinks.

Aitch · 10/06/2007 21:09

i rather like martha, actually, but that's at least partly because she has a Proper Arse. I wish she didn't lurve the doctor, it's too obvious.

Are you my mummy still the scariest. But that was good. I also cried several times at the family of blood episode.

fillyjonk · 10/06/2007 21:12

she hasn't actually got a character

unless you count mooning after the doctor

there is a LOT of potentail here.

but she is being sold as Rebound Girl

belgo · 10/06/2007 21:13

'Are you my mummy' was creepy - Christopher Eccleston was a good Doctor.

Aitch · 10/06/2007 21:14

well, i thought i'd actively hate her, tbh, and i don't, so i'm counting that as a bonus.

help help I have started another thread

will they repeat this again I forgot to set the video

[wail]

TheArmadillo · 10/06/2007 21:17

totally agree with you there fillyjonk (though I have to disagree with you over Pratchett )

They've got a good actress and good potential in the character - but can they be bothered to use it?

These writers are getting really lazy imo. Apart from last night the series is getitng worse and worse. They need a good boot up the backside. They have the actors, teh monney, the audience etc but are not producing the good stuff. How many series/writers etc would give their right arm for that?

oh it is okay someone has answered

as you were

Fubsy · 10/06/2007 22:23

DD and I had fun today making garden ornaments move suddenly closer - obviously no permanent harm done!

Lovecat · 10/06/2007 22:50

I woke up at 5 o'clock this morning in a muck sweat, convinced that the statues in next door's garden (he's got a bit of a greek temple thing going on) were coming to get me!!

Even though I knew it was just a telly programme, I couldn't get back to sleep again... brilliant episode but soooooooo scary!!

Peachy · 10/06/2007 23:36

DS2 has been irritating us imitating the programmme- very badly becuase he cant move as fast as a blink )obv) and cannot stay still for two minutes either! Then he's right in your face staringa nd not moving.... grrrrrrrrr......

funny though. At least was the first hundred or so times

singersgirl · 10/06/2007 23:45

Ooh, it was scary! DS2 (5) needed to cling to both parents and kept saying "This isn't just terrifying, it is petrifying," (which was rather appropriate, considering).

We saw large stone angel's head at Kew today and DS1 (8) was only comforted by the fact that it had no legs or wings, so wasn't going to be much of a threat.

LowFatMilkshake · 11/06/2007 13:40

I watched Blink of BBC3 last night and spent the whole of the night escorting my daughter to the loo and going myself looking over my shoulder....why oh why did I watch that?!

I am not best when it some to scary stuff, but this freaked me out completely.

Lovecat · 11/06/2007 13:49

Okay, I had another vivid nightmare last night all about not being able to close my eyes in case a statue moved on me - this is getting beyond a joke!!!

Obviously something in that show really disturbed my subconscious....
