Dr Who tonight - Blink

Aitch · 09/06/2007 01:47

i've just watched the next dr who, and it is absofuckinglutely terrifying. i may not sleep tonight.

anyone living in a city with lot of victorian buildings, expect lots of kiddies peeing their pants at the sight of garden and architectural statuary. the 'are you my mummy' one... NOTHING compared to this. [petrified emoticon]

i'm not kidding, by the way. i'd recommend taping and watching it forst to check.

If you smashed them up would they die?

Dr said that because they were stone they couldn't be killed. Does that mean they could reform if you smashed them?

Aitch · 09/06/2007 20:25

but if you touch them, belgo... yer history.

belgo · 09/06/2007 20:26

do they kill you if you touch them? I must have missed them bit.

kimi · 09/06/2007 20:28

DH1 has the boys tonight, I bet he won't get a full night's sleep.

Aitch · 09/06/2007 20:29

if they touch you, you go back in time. so i'm presuming it works the other way. assuming you're not looking at them, that is. actually, you're right... if you're looking at them they're stone, aren't they, so they'll smash... dur. hats off to belgo.

very clever episode. Still reckon they'll smash if you knock one over

and ....the guy who wasn't allowed to blink - why didn't he just close one eye at a time?

TheArmadillo · 09/06/2007 20:31

But if you hit them with a sledgehammer or something (i.e. not directly touching them) would you still go back in time?

Or if it was a wrecking ball?

TheArmadillo · 09/06/2007 20:32

belgo - cos he wsn't the brightest button bless him and he was terrified as well which tends to make your brain work less.

Aitch · 09/06/2007 20:33

i was agreeing with you, belgo...

OP posts:
belgo · 09/06/2007 20:33

ah thanks armadillo for explaining that

belgo · 09/06/2007 20:34

oh good aitch. will you get to see next week's episode early as well?

TheArmadillo · 09/06/2007 20:35

that's just my opinion

Furrymummy · 09/06/2007 20:37

Yep I was scared too! DH and I thought it was a brilliant episode.
Glad dss is in Ireland with his mummy, we'll call her when she gets back to warn her it's a scary one (he's 6). This series is getting better, overall after a pretty ropey start!

MrsWho · 09/06/2007 20:38

dd1 was scared but then she said "well we know the doctors back next week so it must be ok" dd2 didn't care I was terrified

BishyBarneyBee · 09/06/2007 20:38

was really good - like them scary

pixel - had bloke who wrote it on confiderntoial and he wrote the short stroy and elaboraetd it for an episode.

I like them wehn tehy are a bit 'clever' but means I have to stay up for ages explaining time to ds.

TheArmadillo · 09/06/2007 20:40

'pretty ropey' - god it has been dire.

That dalek episode (with the pig men) was complete and utter shite - they should have been ashamed of themselves (the writers that is). I think this is the first good episode this series.

And no I don't think the Shakespear one was particularly fantastic. It was ok/not bad/alright, but just looked good compared to the others.

Those writers need a good kick up the arse imo.

They have good actors, loadsa money and they insist on making shite. They even managed to amek the daleks unscary!

belgo · 09/06/2007 20:44

I've obviously missed all of the bad episodes! I've only seen the double episodes with the scarecrows, and thought that was a good storyline. The one about stealing fuel from the sun was ok, but not excellent.

So pleased that for once both my dds were tucked up in bed and I could sit and watch the episode the whole way through with a glass of wine and Haagen Daas ice cream

TheArmadillo · 09/06/2007 20:50

scarecrows one tbh I thought was a bit sloppy.

The stealing fuel from the sun one was too similar to the devil one from last series.

I ahve really been appalled by this series.

The girl who plays MArtha is good and I like her but they haven't really given her or David Tennant much to play with.

IMO anyway - and anyone who doesn't agree obviously smells so ner

Lovecat · 09/06/2007 20:57

Tonight's episode was brilliant - really well written and very scary - the OH even jumped when the bloke looked back for a split-second and then the angel was right in his face!

Agree that the last sequence was a bit unnecessary for children - it freaked me out, anyway!

MrsWho · 09/06/2007 21:01

The only one I didn't like this time was 42 but the Daleks could have been better

christywhisty · 09/06/2007 21:49

Scared me and DS 11 wouldn't go upstairs by himself and DD 9 kept either running out the room or hiding behind the cushion

Classic stuff, best episode this series.

pinkspottywellies · 09/06/2007 21:50

oh my god I was so scared!! will read the rest of the thread now!

SueBaroo · 09/06/2007 21:57

I thought it was great, but will watch it again in the dark to be proper, proper scared.

I hated the Dalek episodes. Helen Raynor's writing bites bottom big time. First three were good, Human nature and Family of Blood were awesome, and Mr Moffatt is a scary-stuff genius.

Mrscarrot · 09/06/2007 21:59

horrible

pinned the cushion over dd's face the whole time hissing no chocolate if she looked

not sure which was more scary tbh

Pixel · 09/06/2007 22:23

My mum has a statue just like that at the bottom of her garden. Would it be too evil to move it a bit when dd isn't looking? heh heh.
