Anyone else watched/watching it?? I'm on episode 11.

I can't help but feel he hasn't mentioned his wife throughout all his interviews. He talks a lot of missing his kids, missing out on their milestones etc - but never once talks about the fact he lost a life with his wife or that he misses her or anything..... just odd.... at this point I'm convinced he's innocent but it's just so weird that 1. He had 2 ladies in his life that fell down stairs... 2. He never expresses grief for his wife.

Also I remember very early on in the film, Micheal talking about his anger of the police treating it as a murder, and that because of this, his wife's vagina had to be swabbed at the autopsy etc (and other angry ramblings). I mean, what a fucking odd statement to make about a wife you cherished.

I think he’s definitely a liar and a cheater, but not convinced he’s a killer. I don’t see why he’d have to kill Cathleen over his bisexuality reveal.

I recently watched the OJ Simpson documentary. Notice how he went from “I’m innocent” to “if I did it...” over time. Michael Peterson never changed his story that he was innocent. That says a lot to me.

Fascinating Whisky ! Interesting re: the boys' debt, I hadn't read up on that.

It is still weird to have an owl feather in her hand, though, isn't it? And those lacerations on the back of her head.

But I did wonder why they took their drinks out to be by the pool - that seems an odd thing to do. And they drank a LOT. And the film didn't address the length of time between her dying and him calling 911.

I don't think we'll ever know the truth. Kathleen's sisters seem to have lost it a bit so they're not helping the case for the prosecution, IMO.

On another note, HOW handsome is Todd Peterson? OMG I spent half the time watching that documentary lost in lustful thoughts about him and his chiselled jaw...

Whisky2014 · 24/08/2018 10:12

The owl feathers could have just been in her hair from her head resting on the seats or fallen from a tree. She had apparently been hanging xmas decorations outside earlier in the evening. Also, not scratches from talons anywhere else on her body, only on her head? Nah! Thats just a total conspiracy that people want to believe because be living the truth is too horrible and maybe too boring?

This is the link to an article about some of the stuff I mentioned. I didn't know the bit about David Rudolf wife being a reporter!
Here is the but about the bombs:
On May 7, 1994, six years before Kathleen’s death, the Asheville Citizen Times reported an Associated Press story that Clayton Peterson, then 19, had been charged with trying to firebomb Duke University’s main administration building. The homemade pipe bomb didn't explode or cause any injuries. When the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives later searched the Peterson home they found “six more assembled explosive devices hidden in the attic.”

Clayton was sentenced to a four-year prison term in a federal penitentiary. In a 1997 profile of Michael Peterson in the Greensboro News and Record, titled "Successful Author Lives the Quiet Life in Durham," the elder Peterson explains that his son planted the bomb only “as a diversion while he stole equipment needed to make a fake ID for a Myrtle Beach trip.” He describes Clayton’s incarceration as the "...the most painful thing that happened to me. This is not how I planned to spend my 50s — going to visit my son in the pen."

Plus can we mention he never once says he misses his wife or how is he gonna be without her or how he loved her? Never. Not once. Considering the whole film was basically made in favour of him (followed the defence case, made by woman he was sleeping with) surely this would've been show if he did mention or say this? Odd how he doesn't. He just never seemed to be grieving or sad - just defensive all the time

Yeh thats right. There's one pathetic attempt to make himself look humane when Rudolph shows the picture in court of Kathleen sitting on his knee and they are smiling. But he does this pathetic mumble cry which he seems to get over pretty quickly.
None of that family really show any true emotion. Also, i can totally see why kathleens daughter did turn on mike. I mean you would want to believe your stepdad but if you saw your mum like that...what would you think?

ReservoirDogs · 25/08/2018 22:10

However, the film crew started filming from the prosecution's viewpoint initially and then the prosecution stopped them. I wonder why they did or maybe the crew questioned why they weren't looking at anyone else.

Whisky2014 · 25/08/2018 22:10

Oh oh oh but HOW FUNNY was the epsiode when rudolph is preparing his opening statement and it's like a comedy skit of things going wrong. I roared when he lost his shit with the IT guy :D

charlyn · 26/08/2018 23:01

I still don’t understand what the cause of death was given as unless I missed it? Did she bleed to death? Having watched the whole thing I’m still not sure whether he did it or not. I do feel he wasn’t being truthful when he talks about what happened that night in the first episode and I don’t understand how Kathleen got those lacerations on her scalp from falling down the stairs. However there was no murder weapon found or any other explanation for her death and there doesn’t seem to be any motive. I certainly don’t think he got a fair trial whether he did it or not.

sirmione16 · 27/08/2018 20:18

I think the cause was listed simply as "blunt force trauma" wasn't it? :S can't remember for sure...
