A thread to make a note of foreign language subtitled gems you’ve chanced upon on Netflix.

Chalay Thay Saath Really gentle romance / cultures collide road trip travelogue in Urdu and Chinese. The scenery and cinematography is stunning - set in the far north of Pakistan on the border with China. There’s drama, warmth, heart, music. The colours are super-saturated, which works well with the austere mountain backdrops. A wonderful escape from real life for a couple of hours.

Boatyardblues... It is strangely compelling and quite naive and innocent in an odd way!... It's weird to watch how a story is told by a completely different culture when we're so used to the western way of narrative... The social norms are sooo different... It is very fluffy... But incredibly sweet and I've found myself getting very drawn in....

I’ll add Good Morning Call to my list, I haven’t watched any Japanese drama so it’ll be interesting to compare with Korean & Chinese.

La casa de la Flores House of Flowers is a brilliant funny series in Spanish. Imagine if pedro almodovar did telenovela/soaps - it would be it. Huge hit in States so lots of reviews on it.

Nearly finished Ministerio del Tiempo which has been brilliant. Sad, funny and happy to take the piss out of its own nation. Will move on to La casa del la Flores when we've done. I love a good Spanish series, unfortunately they are a bit thin on the ground.
