Vincent was trying to get evidence for the police about Luke ( was that his name?) Phil knew Vincent was talking to the police, I thought he told Aidan but told him to scare him not kill him.
Phil obviously knows the policeman is not all he seems

I couldnt remember if Phil was involved in Vincent's disappearance, but - thanks to this thread- i remember it being all about Luke and him needing him out of the way to stop him talking to the police.
