Aridane · 03/05/2018 12:09

I'm starting a thread for those of us watching Season 2 and who want to discuss ahead of its screening in the UK.

So far I've watched the first 3 episodes.

God the 1st episode was grim.

A car drew up...

So we didn't actually see the Waterford's come back for the baby. I guess that's next episode.

MinorRSole · 27/06/2018 18:46

Serena will be fuming to miss out on all the pomp and ceremony and her pretend labour - that brings me enormous satisfaction.

@acrossthepond55 I’m just watching it now and it looks a bit like Hannah in the picture but not totally. I wonder if it’s just the similarity of the blonde women and darker complexioned child that makes her think of Hannah and herself.

BG2015 · 27/06/2018 19:24

Just watched it. I was so frustrated for her. Poor June.

I've been wondering why Nick didn't tell the people that took him that there was a pregnant Handmaids in the house, when he was taken and afterwards. It's confused me all week.

I need something positive to happen soon, I'm losing hope.

MynameisJune · 27/06/2018 19:59

So the voiceover at the end where June is talking to the baby in the future. She says ‘if you escape’ not ‘if we escape’

I seriously hope that season 3 is the downfall of Gilead, anything else is just going to be too unrealistic.

I did like the references from Oprah about sanctions on Gilead, and the UK raising the cap on American refugees from Canada.

An interesting spoiler for next week, not offred or Eden related

Oh no - here are some promotional pictures for episode 12 which gives away more than the official Hulu trailer

What do we think of those pics? I reckon everyone is looking shocked over the pool scene (Eden and Isaac's execution)

DunkandEggAgain · 27/06/2018 20:39

I'm wondering if Nick was taken by two undercover resistance fighters who happened to be doing secret stuff on the sly and then happened upon Nick.
That would explain why, IMO, they were taken by surprise that Nick was at the empty house in the first place and it would explain why they didn't look for June.
To cover their asses they attacked and took Nick and hightailed it outta there.

LilCamper · 27/06/2018 21:04

Gah, I have no idea where this is going....,.even with the spoilers!

Eden2003 · 27/06/2018 21:05
Sad
Aridane · 27/06/2018 21:06

Yes, everyone- other than Nick - looks horrified. Eden’s mother is in bits.

OP posts:
jinjkl · 27/06/2018 21:17

It's strange they would kill Eden for infertility and not make her a handmaid? Assuming she's fertile. Or even send her to the colonies.

Emily was found to be having a lesbian affair but they didn't kill her. Yes, what they did was horrific (FGM) but unlike the martha she wasn't executed due to her fertility.

jinjkl · 27/06/2018 21:23

infidelity not infertility!

ALostCause · 27/06/2018 21:34

Anyone know which stream on Lodi works? I can't make it do anything tonight!

OohMavis · 27/06/2018 21:35

Perhaps they did a fertility test of some description.

Or perhaps it was the fact she was married, and therefore not only betraying God, but betraying a man.

MinorRSole · 27/06/2018 21:50

I'm not finding it on showbox - anyone know when the next one gets added?

Snappedandfarted2018 · 27/06/2018 22:10

They killed Eden by the looks of it to set an example that they are to conform to gileads ways. They don’t want the new generation to question there ways.

Eden2003 · 27/06/2018 22:31

Woe is me!

Praisebe · 28/06/2018 00:00

I knew she wad going to call the baby Holly! Also that house she's in must be some sort of Summer home for Hannah's new family who appear to be high ranking like Fred and Serena because June found that picture of Hannah and her Adopted mother on the mantel and hannahs bike in the Garage and her artwork on the commanders desk plus June has overheard Fred say Commander McKenzie which means Hannah is now known as Agnes McKenzie !!
I think season 3 we'll see Gilead crumble and all those children returned to their parents

AcrossthePond55 · 28/06/2018 00:32

It’s all biblical.

Leviticus 20:10 prescribes capital punishment for adultery between a man and married woman: “And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.”

Praisebe · 28/06/2018 00:36

I noticed that by killing Eden but keeping Nick and June in the house with Holly they've left open a possible plot for Nick to take them both and run for Canada
Could be an idea for season 3
