Aridane · 03/05/2018 12:09

I'm starting a thread for those of us watching Season 2 and who want to discuss ahead of its screening in the UK.

So far I've watched the first 3 episodes.

God the 1st episode was grim.

I'm coming for the baby.

TheCommandersWife · 27/06/2018 12:29

No, I am

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 27/06/2018 13:03

I haven't got ep11 on showbox yet, I was hoping to watch it before kid collection time!

SophieCatScribbles · 27/06/2018 13:07

I apologise for the spoilers, but equally I think from this thread's title we all know it contains spoilers everywhere!! Not a thread to watch if you don't want them, and we are always discussing any hints in interviews etc ahead of their screening.

I can't believe the Waterfords got June and Nick's baby...poor poor June. So many attempts to escape and still she ends up there powerless, Serena refusing to let her see her daughter. Heartbreaking.

The Waterfords will get some kind of comeuppance, and it'll be interesting to see what that is. The show have definitely brought in the amazing Bradley Whitford for a major role, and he seems to be taking over focus as another top mysterious Gilead architect - but now he has the headstrong, rebellious and very clever Emily to contend with - and no wife. So that'll be an interesting mix. I think the Waterfords circumstances will change in some way if the Commander focus becomes Whitford's character. I hope that will involve Serena losing control over that baby - hopefully June will get to hold her daughter again...

Poor Eden disappears too in the next episode (runs away?) possibly with Isaac, so that might lead to the pool thing we've all been dreading.

I'm running out of some tolerance for some of the misery though. I like the show, I've invested in the characters, but don't mess with us for too long with the hopeless horror of Gilead. There's only so much I can take of the awful Serena and Fred in their positions of dominance and cruelty. I hope they both suffer. I need some hope at the end of this series and something positive to come out of this for June and Nick.

Thank you Ariadne.
Mumsnet Towers can be a bit sloooow to delete.
If we keep posting the spoiler will get lost down the line of posts.
I'll report it too.

For those who want to watch the new episode blessed be the fruit

Eden2003 · 27/06/2018 13:31

Eden runs away?

OohMavis · 27/06/2018 13:35

Also, was that OPRAH on the radio?!

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 27/06/2018 13:36

Fantastic thanks snapped

SophieCatScribbles · 27/06/2018 14:27

Eden2003 yes I'm afraid you do. It was in the show trailer for ep 12.

Eden2003 · 27/06/2018 14:46

Can you post next week’s trailer so I can see what it is Mick does to cause me to run away?

Eden2003 · 27/06/2018 14:47

Nick, not Mick. Nick the gender traitor or handmaiden lover

AcrossthePond55 · 27/06/2018 15:10

Mavis, yes it was Oprah. I really liked it because it gave you hints of what's going on in the wider world.

Assuming all of Ariadne's deleted posts were spoilers for Ep 12?

This episode moved a little slow for me, probably because so much of it was June's preparations to run. I just kept thinking "Oh get on with it and get to the damn car!", even though I knew she wouldn't get out of the garage. And when she was pointing the shotgun I thought "That better be either buckshot or a slug or you're in big trouble! and you better be a damned good shot because you'll only get two chances".

But I also had a constant stream of consciousness going of "What would I do?". With my epic ability to deny reality I think I'd convince myself that I'd be able to have the baby on my own and then make a run for it.

So, who is in the car and why did it take so long? I'm assuming no one heard her shotgun blasts or 'help' would have arrived a lot sooner than it did!

Did anyone else notice the maps on the wall in the office when June was searching? There were 3 - 4 of them, showing the US each with different coloured sections. War/territory maps? Environmental maps? From the maps and the blue dresses in the closet, the house belongs (belonged?) to someone 'of rank'. One of the Cmdrs killed in the blast? And since S and F were pretty paranoid about being discovered in it, it's obviously someone pretty important.

If there is an Ep 12 trailer, could someone post link?

LapsedHumanist · 27/06/2018 15:36

Pooh! I git my days mixed up and thought it wasn’t on til tomorrow, off I pop now 📺

AcrossthePond55 · 27/06/2018 15:38

Oh, I also noticed that in the Hannah birth scenes, Moira was wearing what one would think of as 'modest dress' with her hair pulled back and a cap on. Obviously something that Moira would NEVER choose to wear on her own. So timeline-wise, I think Hannah was born in the period soon after the coup since there are female doctors at the birth and it's obvious that June is still working from the scene outside the daycare center. The worst and most repressive laws hadn't gone into effect yet.

Dolphinswimmingupsidedown · 27/06/2018 17:06

Possibly the most disappointing episode ever!

OohMavis · 27/06/2018 17:14

Hmm I don't know, Moira was wearing an African-style top and I think she's known for wearing caps.

AcrossthePond55 · 27/06/2018 18:03

Oh, I didn't know that Mavis! I'm so interested in the Gilead timeline that I guess I see clues everywhere!

My cousin and I were discussing this episode. There is a scene where June is looking around in the mansion's office. There is a picture of a blond woman with a darker complected child. My cousin says that child was Hannah. Did anyone else get a look at the picture? I didn't see it clearly but I would have thought if it was that June would have taken the picture or at least picked it up and carried it around.

OohMavis · 27/06/2018 18:20

Yes I thought it was Hannah too!

Perhaps Hannah's adopted father may have been one of the commanders killed in the explosion and that Hannah lived there with them. That would make sense as to why she'd be there with the Martha, perhaps lagging behind as the household moved house for some reason...?

But the house looks very different to the one June and Serena pulled up outside of, even without the snow... So I'm confused.

Aridane · 27/06/2018 18:28

across - my deleted posts were because I accidentally posted a summary of the current episode on the thread instead of pm’ing another poster. This was at a time before posters had viewed the episode. I wish though I had spoilers for episode 12!

Agree wdolphin that this was the most disappointing episode of season two

Tractorprincess · 27/06/2018 18:32

Can anyone tell me what happened at the end of episode 11 please?

Did anyone come back for June?
