Aridane · 03/05/2018 12:09

I'm starting a thread for those of us watching Season 2 and who want to discuss ahead of its screening in the UK.

So far I've watched the first 3 episodes.

God the 1st episode was grim.

Omg I'd forgotten that old wive's tale 😱 what a sick pair of bastards they are...😰

Poor June.

Bloody Serena and Fred. I watched Serena participating there in that scene, and all her recent shows of alarm and concern clearly meant nothing except concern for herself and 'her' (ie June's stolen) baby. Utterly selfish. Completely sickening to let that happen to another woman in such circumstances.

cheshiremama89 · 14/06/2018 22:34

Can anyone share the link on here?!?! I deleted Facebook

Tractorprincess · 14/06/2018 22:41

I truly hope that's Fred and Serena in that drowning scene.

Praisebe · 14/06/2018 22:46

Oooh shit. What they did goes against Gilead rules which means Aunt Lydia is going to be so pissed and they might loose the baby altogether

SophieCatScribbles · 14/06/2018 22:52

Maybe Aunt Lydia will hear June screaming and walk in and catch them...

Now that I'd like to see.

Praisebe · 14/06/2018 22:55

Fred and Serena might just be the ones at the bottom of the pool afterall

SophieCatScribbles · 14/06/2018 22:58

That really would be a blessed day.

Opheliasgoldenwine · 14/06/2018 23:41

I hope it is them in the pool now. What a pair of sick, sick individuals, there will be repercussions for that. If the film is anything to go by (spoiler) June will kill Fred.

Opheliasgoldenwine · 14/06/2018 23:42

Although, will Lydia necessarily believe June?

AcrossthePond55 · 15/06/2018 00:00

Ok, ok. I watched the trailer.

I'm not on FB. I tried googling HOT VOD but it just returned a bunch of foreign links so I'm not clicking on them.

AcrossthePond55 · 15/06/2018 00:05

Oh holy hell!!!

For those not on FB (like me) you can watch the trailer here. It's a FB link but you don't have to log in to watch?

www.facebook.com/HotVodIsrael/videos/10156427002577760/

AcrossthePond55 · 15/06/2018 00:06

And it is huge huge spoilers.

SophieCatScribbles · 15/06/2018 00:18

I'd bloody love it if June killed Fred, preferably in front of Serena.

I knew we couldn't trust that woman. She's just totally selfish and obsessed with babies. It's all that drives her.

QuackPorridgeBacon · 15/06/2018 01:49

I’m so annoyed at myself. I never watch the previews and usually skim past the comments about them. But fucking hell, even I’m wondering what they are doing to June (even though I think I have a fair idea) I don’t want to know anymore, best to leave the thread lol.

HopelesslydevotedtoGu · 15/06/2018 04:31

"Matthew 18:6
"If anyone causes one of these little onesthose who believe in meto stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea"

HopelesslydevotedtoGu · 15/06/2018 04:43

spoiler

Quote from interview with Bruce Miller

"there’s a scene very late in the season where two people get thrown in a swimming pool with their legs tied to weights. It’s a very updated version of a very old concept ― they would have wells where they would throw the witches. They would throw them in there, I think [they were called] dunking wells, to drown them. That’s how they would execute women, [because it] was considered nicer. No hanging or cutting heads off. No blood. Which to me just sounds like a horrible misunderstanding of what it probably feels like to drown.

Our modern version is in a swimming pool and they’re chained to kettlebells. The type you’d find at the gym. It’s updated in a horrible way, but it’s very much tied to a legal remedy that’s been around for a very long time, focused very much on women"

So to me that suggests it's thought of as a nicer cleaner way to die, so maybe a high ranking couple....?

HopelesslydevotedtoGu · 15/06/2018 05:01

Although I read that the actress playing Serena talked online about playing her again in season 3

Aridane · 15/06/2018 06:40

Bloody hell !

SophieCatScribbles · 15/06/2018 09:02

Ahh, Hopelessly, that explains it a bit, thanks. So it's a punishment for harming (or trying to harm?) a child. But what child? Does Eden still count as a child?

I'll still hope it's Eden and Isaac.

Margaret Atwood seems to try to end things on a hopeful note, unlike some of these dystopian nightmares, so I'm hoping for a good ending where June and Nick are able to draw breath, until Season 3 at least, lol.

Itscurtainsforyou · 15/06/2018 09:02

I still think it could be Eden and Nick in the pool. I reckon Nick could be in the final episode as a flash back.

That longer preview looks to me that they are so desperate to get rid of June that they're trying anything to get the baby out asap. Fred and Serena are horrific characters, they really buy into the idea that they are the most important people and everyone else is there for their convenience.

HornyTortoise · 15/06/2018 10:00

For those of you on Facebook, type HOT VOD into the search box. There’s the another, more detailed trailer for episode 10.

My god thats going to be hard to watch. the writers, the actors, everyone involved in this show is amazing at what they do. I find myself excited and dreading it both at the same time each week. So intense. I don't think I have ever been on the edge of my seat more when watching something on TV. Its made worse too by the fact that it actually could happen really, I am just on reading the book now and Margaret Atwood specifically says that she put nothing in the book that had not actually happened already.

HornyTortoise · 15/06/2018 10:00

I think Nick and Eden in the pool is too obvious too.

SophieCatScribbles · 15/06/2018 10:15

Watching that awful trailer for Ep 10, anyone else flash back to that moment in the study where Serena said 'Thank you. I won't forget your help'?

Pretty hollow words now. She just used June, like she and Fred always do.

Opheliasgoldenwine · 15/06/2018 10:25

Surely Fred and Serena must realise that it was too convenient that when they're in Canada, that's when the letters get out. Surely Nick will get caught for this; all Eden has to do is mention letters and Fred and Serena will realise what happened.

Opheliasgoldenwine · 15/06/2018 10:30

The thing is, surely they didn't randomly add in Eden and Isaac talking, surely it means something? This show doesn't tend to waste screen time.
