utterly brilliant, thought i may actually die from laughing, am sooo impressed the serious historians etc kept the straight face!
If you missed it please watch via catch up or whatever - i think its the funniest thing i've seen since Motherland (probably no coincidence that its the same main actor)

So funny. DH didnt get it at first. It took him until 20 minutes in to understand its supposed to be funny and not a serious history program Grin

LineyDancer · 04/04/2018 18:53

Just brilliant. Iron Man superpowers, 'like tolerating Gwynneth Paltrow'.

mercurymaze · 04/04/2018 18:55

I find her irritating but possibly too old and seen it all already

Roominmyhouse · 04/04/2018 18:58

Absolutely brilliant, loved it! Grin

The80sweregreat · 04/04/2018 18:59

I’m going to look up at helicopters for no reason at all..

StewPots · 04/04/2018 19:03

I saw clips of this on Twitter today...looking forward to watching this when DS goes to bed. Sounds right up my street!

Pinkprincess1978 · 04/04/2018 19:40

Oh gosh so funny! I really couldn't believe how those existed played along and kept a straight face! Was some interesting facts amongst hilarious one liners.

CatherineCawood · 04/04/2018 19:46

Just watched it, v funny. I loved the bit about the starved dinosaurs and the scottish pez!!!

The80sweregreat · 04/04/2018 20:11

It was very well done. Very clever.

FencingFightingTorture35 · 04/04/2018 21:11

I've been howling at this. The people she interviewed look terrified and confused Grin

The80sweregreat · 04/04/2018 21:41

Real History programmes are very similar, all that walking around castles and churches and voice overs. Its been well researched and lot of it is actually factual amongst the jokes. I can see that the experts are in on the joke though, but its still funny.

The80sweregreat · 05/04/2018 08:25

Charlie Brooker ( one of the writers) and Peter Kay have that knack of actually watching the programmes they are parodying and having so many things just spot on.

ILikeMyChickenFried · 05/04/2018 11:46

Watched this last night. We haven't laughed so much at a tv show in ages.

Stormypud · 05/04/2018 13:18

Brilliant. Laugh out loud telly. Apparently the experts do know it's a parody but don't know what they'll be asked, etc. Some have been interviewed by Cunk before!

Lottapianos · 05/04/2018 13:23

She's brilliant. I love how she plays it so totally straight. I wonder if the experts are told to be as po-faced as possible.

My favourite ever Cunk line (I think) is 'this week we will be asking, who or what is Winston Churchill? The answer of course, is who'

Grin
The80sweregreat · 05/04/2018 13:32

Yes, how did Winston Churchill end up on all the five pound notes?

We have actual footage of the Battle of Hastings - in wool. Luckily someone was around who was good at embroidery eh?

Next week she is looking at pots and stuff.

NameChangeBiatch · 05/04/2018 17:18

Ooh if it's got history and humour I'm in.

boatyardblues · 05/04/2018 21:07

The Arthurian academic looks like Cunk might have shanghaied her. Her facial expressions are great.

boatyardblues · 05/04/2018 21:20

Tarmac inhalation Grin

Tudors = the Kardashians of history Grin Grin

PavlovaPrincess · 05/04/2018 21:48

This was hilarious. Me and DH were watching it and DS came in halfway through and ended up watching it too.

Favourite lines were 'Baywatch Tapestry', 'like tolerating Gwyneth Paltrow', Richard III 'burrowing under a car park' and 'so King Arthur came a lot' (just for the historians face).

Looking forward to next weeks.

HappydaysArehere · 06/04/2018 08:44

Funniest thing I have seen on tv for years. Her delivery is brilliant and so are those academics. It reminded me of those interviews that Ali G made some years ago when he said outrageous things to people in what seemed like a serious interviews.

WhatCanIDoNowPlease · 06/04/2018 09:05

Was it true, the bit about inventing fire at one second past midnight on jan 1st and coming out of the stone age at 3pm on dec 31st?

WhatCanIDoNowPlease · 06/04/2018 10:47

Actually I meant harnessing fire, not inventing it.

Blush
Petalflowers · 06/04/2018 11:00

Loved it.

NorbertTheDragon · 06/04/2018 13:49

Love the bit about Halley's Comet coming the same year Brush Strokes started.

The Baywatch Tapestry.

All those castles and churches built by one man, Norman Architecture. Grin
