Anyone just watched the episode about he woman who'd been missing for 12 years, and then found in her BILs back garden?

Horrible for her kids not to know what happened. I though that the solicitor was the shiftiest looking bloke I'd ever seen.

I think he was just pretty inexperienced really Lemonade and was nervous talking to CID! I think he said "I don't notice girls" because he was gay, and Jade was insinuating that he was perving on her.

what i thought was good was the way the community policing team took the report of cuckooing seriously and took action decisively. hopefully it would encourage people to report issues that vulnerable people face.

YoohooDorothy · 23/03/2018 11:33

Yeah i thought it was interesting that they showed someone who was quite new to the job as all the officers they shoe usually are quite experienced and capable.

I wondered if the joking about not noticing girls was his reaction to her calling him the homophobic name earlier. It sends a message to her that it's not a weak spot, or something that he keeps secret so any slurs won't bother him.

Anyone watching the stalking episode tonight? Am I right that the defendants solicitor used to be a police officer? I seem to remember him from the first series.

staydazzling · 26/03/2018 21:25

I'm watching it tonight

JuniLoolaPalooza · 26/03/2018 21:29

I'm watching and not sure what to think! It's so weird - he thinks she's coming on to him by offering tea, the mate's got photos of her stalking him...? Weird.

staydazzling · 26/03/2018 21:37

I like the fact it's weird and not blatant because I imagine most stalking is like that. the police officers seem like nice chaps which is good.

Halsall · 26/03/2018 21:44

storm, that solicitor was definitely in a much earlier series - possibly the very first one. I can't remember whether he was a former police officer, though.

JuniLoolaPalooza · 26/03/2018 21:45

Yes, it's quite gripping. The cops are really good in this one (I have a bit of a crush on both of them! And they are so young looking!)

Ginger1982 · 26/03/2018 21:46

He was a solicitor in the previous series too. I remember him arguing with a female detective.

StorminaBcup · 26/03/2018 22:10

Thought so! I watch a few of these kinds of programmes so I get confused who I’ve seen where!

That wasn’t clear cut was it. I can’t understand how it’s got to trial and thrown out because of a lack of evidence when they’ve would have had over a years worth. Another one with a really good solicitor.

StorminaBcup · 26/03/2018 22:11

Sorry just realised that’s a massive spoiler Blush

JuniLoolaPalooza · 26/03/2018 22:27

Hehe! From the conversations with CPS it sounded like the burden of proof was super high - something about 'with fear'? So not sure if they'd've been able to prove the victim's fear alongside his stalking etc if that's necessary for a conviction anyway. Criminal law is fascinating!

Ginger1982 · 26/03/2018 22:30

It's a different statute up here which refers to causing a 'reasonable person' fear and alarm. The debate on this is quite far reaching.....!
