in that super-posh accent. Wonder if she speaks like that in real life?

She does to an extent she seems a nice woman but her simpering and clipped accent really got on my nerves when she was on Strictly the other year,

Lifeaback · 12/03/2018 15:06

Did anyone else want to give shelagh a slap when she said 'thank goodness the funeral didn't clash with Angela's birthday party'??? The world doesn't revolve around you and your awful family!

I think the point being made was that if the funeral had clashed with the birthday party she’d have been hard pressed to be of much use at the funeral. Her time would have been torn in two.

AlistairAppletonssexyscarf · 12/03/2018 15:32

Angela is two. Cancel the party. She'd be oblivious.

Fionne · 12/03/2018 15:40

cancel the party. She’d be oblivious

Especially with it not being real.

AlistairAppletonssexyscarf · 12/03/2018 16:05

Um, yes.

BeyondDeadlySiren · 12/03/2018 16:12

It isn’t real?! Shock

AlistairAppletonssexyscarf · 12/03/2018 16:13

Stop the thread!

StripySocksAndDocs · 12/03/2018 16:18

Oh thank goodness. Does that mean Barbara isn't actually dead?

BestIsWest · 12/03/2018 17:08

There weather leading up to November 22 1963 was mild and showery with some heavy downpours. There had been some snow and sleet around the 13th though.

BezzaMezza · 12/03/2018 17:50

If Barbara was still alive she'd have celebrated her 80th birthday last year. She was born the same year as my dad according to her gravestone (although obviously she wouldn't have a gravestone if she was still alive!)

BezzaMezza · 12/03/2018 17:51

And real

Polarbearflavour · 12/03/2018 17:54

Urgh at Shelagh and the Turners!

Please can we stop with the teal!

woodhill · 12/03/2018 18:20

Yes Fione I wanted to hit Shelagh over the head with the rabbit blamange mould

Polarbearflavour · 12/03/2018 18:43

The ending made me cry Sad

Are they going to continue to the 1970s? Because the Sisters of St John the Divine relocated to Birmingham in 1976 and as far as I know, stopped working in midwifery and started working with vulnerable women and people with AIDS in later years.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=-l4B4EuazNI Found this on YouTube. First time I have heard Jennifer Worth speak Smile

TuftedLadyGrotto · 12/03/2018 18:49

I liked the adoption story didn't involve changing of minds but also didn't seem distraught. As in, she'd made her decision, she knew it was the right one and was happy.

Fionne · 12/03/2018 18:53

Yes Fione I wanted to hit Shelagh over the head with the rabbit blamange mould

The way she spoke about the rabbit mould made me laugh as did the ref to the icing pipes. There was just something about the way she said it.

Not that it’s real mind you.

MargotLovedTom1 · 12/03/2018 18:55

Leave Shelagh alone! Grin She was clearly distraught and the party was almost a displacement activity for her. Yes, she said thank goodness the party and funeral didn't clash, but then when straight on to say very emotionally that she needed to be doing something practical to take her mind off the grief.

MargotLovedTom1 · 12/03/2018 18:56

Went, not when.

Fionne · 12/03/2018 19:07

Margot, I agree that her reference to the party and funeral wasn’t selfish or disrespectful.

reallybadidea · 12/03/2018 20:15

That video is fantastic! I can't believe that I haven't seen it before. Jennifer Worth sounds so very different to how I imagined her; far more down to earth and less prissy Blush

user1andonly · 12/03/2018 20:24

When there was the knock at the door during Angela's party, I thought for a minute it was going to be her birth mum having tracked her down. I'm convinced that is going to happen at some point.

I did smile when young mum of baby Barbara walked into the clinic in head to toe teal Grin

Pebble21uk · 12/03/2018 21:01

The actress who played Delia was playing a pregnant woman in 'Doctors' today... the irony!! She's a good actress but Doctors is just awful.

I think from what I've read that the actress playing Patsy decided to leave so Delia had to go as well. I don't think it was her choice. Shame!

toldmywrath · 12/03/2018 21:19

Pebble. How very dare you besmirch our beloved Doctors program. Grin

I watch ÇTM and Doctors and I must be face blind, because I didn't realise that the actress was Delia.
