Only just discovered it and I love it. Mandy the local hard woman (and tattoo artist) is a joy!

And the ever patient vicar! Grin poor vicar and his massive balls.

MillyChantilly · 15/03/2018 15:36

"Vicar! Your finger's going up my arsehole, mate!"

Snobbles · 15/03/2018 15:44

I didn't realise Kerry's mum's voice was done by Kerry!

Popchyk · 15/03/2018 15:57

I think it is funny when Kurtan veers into Gareth Keenan (The Office) territory.

Both characters talk alike and look alike.

MadisonAvenue · 15/03/2018 18:37

Popchyk I remember reading an interview with Daisy and Charlie when series one started and they said that they'd like to get Mackenzie Crook in to play Kurtan's Dad.

I don't actually remember Kurtan ever mentioning his parents, just that he lives with his Nan?

Popchyk · 15/03/2018 18:53

Yeah, lives with his Nan. Parents not really mentioned.

I think Kurtan also said he'd moved a lot in the last few years. Probably kicked out of his parents' houses and then sofa surfed for a while. And ended up with his nan who is never seen (like Kerry's mum).

Just seems like there isn't really anyone looking out for him (although he is an adult of course but acts much younger). The vicar is the one who takes him off to college rather than any family member. Vicar playing the parental role to both of them in the absence of anyone else trying to motivate and guide them.

That bit of it feels quite poignant sometimes.

flugelhorn3 · 16/03/2018 06:56

Oh I thought the mum wasn't played by Kerry but was played by their real-life mum?

LilaBlue · 16/03/2018 07:16

Love this show. What's the story of the writers etc? Are the actors related in real life then?

MadisonAvenue · 16/03/2018 07:26

They're brother and sister. Kerry's Dad is played by their father and Len is their uncle in real life, and Daisy was pregnant while series 2 was filmed. Oh, and Slugs is a friend.

Stu123 · 16/03/2018 11:36

On the credits, Kerry’s mum - Sue Mucklowe - is credited as Ivy Woodcock, but it’s Daisy May Cooper really.

My favourite Sue line so far has to be this one from ‘Random Acts of Kindness’:

“I’ll tell you what would be a random act of kindness; you wiping your arse properly, so I don’t have to spoon shite out of your knickers every time I do a bloody wash!”

There are people out there that think it’s a real documentary. Complaints were made about Kurtan being bullied on the construction site?!?!?!

stu that scene was hilarious! The way Kerry looked at the camera afterwards and then said “I do wipe my arse properly” Grin

MadisonAvenue · 16/03/2018 12:06

My favourite Sue scene was the clip of her singing Happy Birthday, not sure if it was a deleted scene but that is now how we sing happy birthday in this house.

NotAllTimsWearCapes · 16/03/2018 12:28

Oh I haven’t seen that Madison. Where did you find it?

I hope is works!

MadisonAvenue · 16/03/2018 12:34

*this, not is.

There are a few little clips like this that BBC3 have posted.

NotAllTimsWearCapes · 16/03/2018 12:41

😂😂😂 that was fantastic! “A caterpillar cake!”

Stu123 · 16/03/2018 16:26

Love the way Kurtan and Dan struggle to keep their faces straight in this deleted scene with Martin ‘Sliced White’ Mucklowe in The Keepers.

Grin do they ad lib this stuff or is it all scripted?

LilaBlue · 17/03/2018 09:12

I love all these little clips

WinstonlovesJulia1984 · 17/03/2018 18:09

I came to this late so binge-watched the whole of the first series just before the 2nd one started. Very funny but also quite heartbreaking in places eg how Kerry's Dad treats her

Stu123 · 17/03/2018 20:07

Kerry - her vulnerability and lack of parental support - reminds me of Chrissie in this classic Victoria Wood sketch:

Oh yes stu! Very much so.

Squirrelpatrol2174 · 18/03/2018 09:20

Last week's episode made me laugh. Kurten taking the piss out of kerry's dad. All the gear, no idea Grin

LARLARLAND · 18/03/2018 09:31

It's just brilliant. Like all the best comedy it has you laughing and feeling sad for the characters within a single scene. In the GVNQ episode where they talked about their friends who had moved away being able to afford a McDonalds, which they had to watch them eat because they had no money, I actually cried!
I can't believe they had the nerve to write about their actual woodwork teacher, Mr. Perkins. They must have really hated him.
