Obedient Wife - Happy Life ?????????????????????????? OMG!

Matthew Wright has a phone in going on.

Susannah from Bolton always used to argue with her husband but now she does what he says and she's happy.

Matthew says - give us an example of what he does for you here they are.

  1. she has a cold and is feeling poo - he says, tell you what don't cook tea tonight get a takeaway instead.
  1. she says - we have a cordless phone and you know the bit at the bottom, the charger? he asked her 'do you clean?' yes she said 'well why is this dirty? he asked but do you know what? he went and got a tissue and did it himself!

the panel told her to run for the door - now!

I she happy because it's easier to submit that stand up for yourself? Is she really going to carry on like this for the rest of her life? At some point, surely, she is going to realise that not everyone is treated like rubbish by their husband and she could do a lot better. Its a subtle form of abuse really.

Or alternatively her two sons will treat her with a much respect as her husband and she will be cooking, cleaning, doing laundry and sponging offf her at home when they should be out living on their own

I saw what I think was the advert for Wife Swop a couple of nights ago, one wife says something along the lines of: I cook tea for the boys (meaning DH and I think one son)they eat what they want to eat and then after they have finished, I eat whatever is left! And she had a smile on her face...

There's a program about it on channel 5 on Monday at 9. I know one of the women on it, and she isn't a sap. It's whole way-of-life thing. I used to buy into it myself, but I'm not there now, for all sorts of reasons. The 'surrendered wife' thing is simple psychology. Not sure how sensible it is longterm. My friend is actually really quite religious and it stems from all that for her.

It woudf be so easy to give in, do as your told when you are told to, and then at the end of your life, to look back on whatever messes got made and say

"Not my fault, I was doing as I was told. That means it's his fault"

But I am not a little girl any more. And I am not a coward. I am not frightened to take responsibility for the things I do, even if I do make a farting great cock up of it, because I am an adult. Surrendered wives are little girls, really.

wasn't there an obedient wife on an old wife swap?
blonde, dressed up for dinner in a chinese dress with a slit up the side, stockings and the poor husband she had swapped with had the jitters and was too scared to come home to her. For her real husband she would put his jacket on and shoes and they had a son who she really ignored, just concentrated on her hubbie
