Can't believe it; natural causes at 53. loved her in Vicar of Dibley.

She was precious.

So sad to hear this. She was a wonderful actress and her part in V of F was pure comic genius.

So young and so hugely talented. She never failed to make me laugh and her work alongside Dawn French was inspired.

So sad. Alice Tinker is one of my favourite characters.

Thats horribly sad news. She always stole the scene in anything she did. Totally magnetic on the screen.

My children have recently begun watching re-runs of VofD and find her character hilarious and Alice and Hugo's wedding is best TV wedding ever.

So terribly sad.

Geraldine Granger: Yeah, well, I believe that is the idea, yeah.

Alice: Then yesterday I went to Kirkenden and I bought this other stuff, like a sort of home brand, you know.

Geraldine Granger: Yes?

Alice: And, you know, I can't believe it's not I Can't Believe It's Not Butter.

Geraldine Granger: Mmmm?

[pause]

Geraldine Granger: I'm losing you now.

Alice: Oh, right. Well, you know I Can't Believe It's Not Butter?

Geraldine Granger: Yeah, yeah, yeah, you think it is butter.

Alice: No, no. I mean, you know the stuff that I can't believe is not butter is called I Can't Believe It's Not Butter?

Geraldine Granger: Probably, yeah, yeah.

Alice: Well, I can't believe the stuff that is not I Can't Believe It's Not Butter is not I Can't Believe It's Not Butter. And I can't believe that both I Can't Believe It's Not Butter and the stuff that I can't believe is not I Can't Believe It's Not Butter are both, in fact, not butter. And I believe... they both might be butter... in a cunning disguise. And, in fact, there's a lot more butter around than we all thought there was.

Oh, how sad. I didn't know her real name. She'll always be Alice Tinker to me. So funny. Brilliant writing.

What "natural causes" would one die of at 53? It's an odd way to give cause of death.

Well to me it would suggest an illness such as pneumonia or a heart attack, as opposed to it being drink or drug related.

So sad, such a talented actress, she was one of a very few actresses/characters that could actually make me cry with laughter. Sending loving thoughts to her poor husband and family. RIP

I am saddened to read this. Emma Chambers was a fantastic actress. I loved her in the VofD and my dc do to. She popped up in The Bill once playing a straight role and was fabulous in that too. Amazing talent!
