How the Other Half Learns Wednesday 02 May
8:00pm - 9:00pm

Wells Cathedral School is an ancient, fee-paying affair that rises out of the Somerset countryside like a huge pile of toffee. Not any old toffee, mind, but the sort of toffee that comes with little silver hammers in embossed tins in Harrods. It is, in other words, posh. Preston Manor, on the other hand, is not posh. Plonked in the heart of Wembley, north London, it looks like most other inner-city schools (ie grey) and is stuffed with bellowing teens in back-to-front baseball caps. But are the institutions and their students as different as they appear? In the first episode of this charming, clever series, three pupils from each school embark on a month-long exchange programme. So unexpected are the results that you may find several of your education-based preconceptions popping like balloons.

yes you're right RT - but I find it an odd choice of school to use - and many of the students there are there because of their musical talents - it's one of the 5 specialist music schools........still may pop down and watch some of it all the same.

The Wembley kids rock.

ScummyMummy · 02/05/2007 20:45

Oh that poor kid with the winnie the pooh duvet. He seems very vulnerable. I suspect he might find the Wembley school hard.

RTKangaMummy · 02/05/2007 20:48

My cousin's DS started boarding @ around 8 as a choisiter he is now 15 @ Harrow

I went to Wells Cathedral. But much as I'd love to watch it I'm in the midst of the Beeny.

I'm not posh though, I did serve my time in a comp too.

LadyMacbeth · 02/05/2007 20:50

I went to the school, not just the cathedral

He is a great kid, don't know how he comes across but he is great.

He said that he wouldhave no problem going to the Wembley school - he thought it was a great place.

KathyMCMLXXII · 10/05/2007 14:56

Saw this, was wincing every time the posh kids referred to the Wembley ones as 'chavs'.
Just because they are not rich does make them chavs ffs!

Other than that I thought all 6 kids seemed really nice.
