Well didn't think we'd fill the first thread but we've hung in there with mascots and hopes of some 'ass on ice' action...so on with the donkeys on ice show!

Just watching now. Have seen who goes, I reckon Brianne will be furiously, she has always come across as being fiercely competitive (nothing wrong with that by the way).
Thought a lot of the 30 second bits were just quite disappointing - just shorten the show, take out a few ad breaks and call the show what if is - 1hr 15. Would rather that than all the filler crap, could have done without Disney on ice and the pro skate dances.
I thought the comments were fair about whichever dude was the werewolf not being in character the whole time.
I also like the addition of the ‘required elements’, I think it gives a target and highlights who can and can’t from the beginning, and I think it should have been introduced at the very start.

Looking at "the 10 best DOI" interesting how good the choreography is!!!!!!

Ray Quinn was just amazing wasn't he?

He did ballroom dancing to a very high level as a child, so that's the dancing bit. But the skating? How did he get that good in such a short time?!

he was also an in-line skater/rollerblader iirc - only as a hobby obvs and very different to ice skating but he will have had an edge in terms of balance and confidence.

Didn't Ray Quinn play ice hockey or spend loads is leisure time at the ice rink when he was growing up? He definitely wasn't a novice but was totally honest about it.

I've just read he was in talks to be on the judging panel but lost out to Ashley Banjo.

i thought ice hockey was Chris Fountain - even then, the blades are a different width/cut the ice differently so take a while getting used to, different balance i may have watched Battle of the blades with pro dancers and hockey players paired up

They were brilliant, choreography was fantastic. I also think though that the starting and performance point of most of those skaters abilities were much higher than we’ve seek this year. We’ve had a baker, a weatherman, some random reality tv stars, can’t think what else.
The calibre of ‘celebs’ has slipped by a long way. I genuinely had no idea who most of them were!
But they desperately need Chris and Jane back on choreography!

This year's lot just seem like a much, much, lower bar than any previous years, even at this stage.

And yes to the choreography!

I didn't really enjoy it, only watched it this morning, Jake is the best, I don't like Kem, I didn't think Alex would go, he's been quiet good all the way through.

Brooke looked ridiculous in that wig.

Hello lovelies, Sorry I missed you all (and DOI) last night.
However, I have worked out (slow, I know) that reading your comments is a lot more informative and a lot less painful that actually having to sit through two hours of skating shite!

cakeninja I agree. The choreography is no where near as good without Chris and Jane doing it. The pro skaters just don't seem to be up to the job where as in Strictly the pro dancers do brilliant choreography. The routines just seem to be really dull and as Jason said the lifts sometimes don't seem to fit in with the music. Even Jake didn't do it for me this week and think it was down to the routine just not being that good.

Yes I remember both Christ Fountain and Ray Quinn having plenty of experience on the ice prior to their shows.

It’s pretty bad isn’t it crinkle, just a lot of really basic skating still, not many nuances to the themes and basically loads of pointless wasting about with randomly placed jumps and spins. I really hope they change the format for next year and at least pay for some choreographers to come in even if it’s not Chris and Jane.

@FuzzyCustard your summising may well be true but if we're gritting our teeth and getting through it in true British style, then you need to be here with us!!! Expecting you to be in full attendance next Sunday!
