I absolutely loved W&G back in the day, and love watching reruns, so I was so excited for the new series tonight... but it was so cringeworthy!

I won't say too much so as not to spoil it, but i just found it so forced.

What did anyone else make of it?

Really liked it, it was like they were never away. Just hope it doesn't give any ideas to a Friends reunion.

Crap. The Trump thing was crap and so inevitable . It would’ve been shocking if they hadn’t

SpoonfulOfJam · 06/01/2018 18:38

Haven't seen it yet- but they made a mini episode in the run up to the US election, which I saw on Facebook, so a Trump focus is no surprise really.

NobbyNobberson · 06/01/2018 18:43

Americans love sprouts!

I presume theirs must be nicer than ours as they don't seem to relegate them to Christmas like we do 😃

Butterymuffin · 06/01/2018 18:46

So Grace's child just doesn't exist and hasn't been mentioned, is that right?

lizzieoak · 06/01/2018 18:47

For me a lot of tv does not wear well. I loved Morse decades ago, but tried watching it recently and the acting and writing styles have moved on. With comedy this is even more pronounced. So I didn’t find W & G terrible, but I didn’t find it clever either. I am now scared to watch reruns of 30Rock - I’d be sad if that turned out not to be aging well.

I’ve only watched the Tenement Museum episode and it was (for me) a jump the shark episode.

SnipSnipMrBurgess · 06/01/2018 18:48

They said it was a dream Karen has when she was off her face on pills and drink.

It wouldn't work with kids. It wouldn't be the same show.

Stick with it. Episode 6 (I think) had me in tears.

SallyOMalley · 06/01/2018 18:52

I didn't even know it was back! Which channel is it on? I loved W&G back in the day - happy memories of Channel4 Friday Smile

NNchangedforthis · 06/01/2018 19:56

I’m trying to watch but the canned laughter is beyond ridiculous Angry

bonfireheart · 06/01/2018 19:58

The Trump stuff would have been off if it wasn't for the mini episode so I'll let them get away with that for now!
I never forgave them for the awful, awful last episode with the kids so glad they've gone away from that!

magicstar1 · 06/01/2018 20:08

I watched the current season today...I think 8 episodes and really liked it. Karen is still awesome Grin

bonfireheart · 06/01/2018 20:35

The actress who plays Karen is amazing in You, Me and the Apocalypse.

mumof2sarah · 06/01/2018 20:39

I couldn't make my mind up at all. I loved it years gone by. I felt it was a bit too political. I will carry on watching it just to see whether that's all it's going to be about, hopefully it's all out the way now and it can go back to being the good show it was x

mytoesaregettingfatter · 15/01/2018 23:54

I love it but I think Grace doesn't seem the same. Her acting is....bad?! Just doesn't seem like the same character.

MissionItsPossible · 16/01/2018 01:19

The first episode was the worst of the bunch (until the Christmas episode anyway).

Don't know why people are saying it's "become" too political - Will and Grace was always political. Probably more noticeable because there's been such a gap.

Episodes 4 and 5 are really moving and I found them sad.

MissionItsPossible · 16/01/2018 01:21

I just checked and it's episodes 4 and 6 I found sad, not 5

Alwaysinmyheart · 16/01/2018 01:41

I watched episode 2 on Sunday and the slapstick element was hilarious! All about Will and Jack getting older and trying to pull young men. V funny😀

Eminybob · 16/01/2018 02:06

I think that saying the kids thing was a dream and basically resetting time so that everyone is single again and W&G living together etc is a massive cop out. It’s unrealistic that their lives have regressed so much within 11 years.

However... I do think it’s the only way that they could bring it back and make it funny, which it is. I lolled a lot while watching, and it’s definatley back on form. But mainly because they’ve put the characters back in the same position as they were when the original series started. Which is daft.

Anyway, despite my issues with it I plan to carry on watching as it is amusing and watchable.

I also thought sprouts in the first ep but dh reckons they were small apples.

ChessieFL · 16/01/2018 06:53

Definitely sprouts! I enjoyed episode 2, it felt back on form to me. I agree the ‘dream’ to explain the lack of kids is a bit of a cop out but I don’t care because I’m so glad it’s back!

bonfireheart · 16/01/2018 17:20

I thought they were small likes rather than sprouts.

bonfireheart · 16/01/2018 17:20

*limes

Independentstateofeyebrows · 16/01/2018 21:03

Loving the new series
(And I'm going with greengages)

Plumes · 26/01/2018 22:34

Just watched the episode where Jack discovers he's a grandad. Found it quite touching in places, but importantly it made me laugh.

EachandEveryone · 27/01/2018 02:16

Yes it made me laugh thus week too.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 27/01/2018 09:00

I’m really enjoying it! It feels like a comfy old friend!

I howled when Karen called in sick last week, it really tickled me!
