Anyone gonna be watching? I LOVE this show!

This is one of my favourite programmes and I've watched it from the start.

My dh also pointed out that there was no actual evidence that the son pushed the fiancé. It was all circumstantial.

I quite liked ardal's approach to being a detective. Columbo is a good description.

I the woolly plots happens to a lot of long term series such as New Tricks etc

MyOtherProfile · 09/01/2018 23:26

I like ardal and this role is different for him, he's playing more of a Columbo type - underestimated genius

I do love it but haven't all the detectives played this role,? Feels like all 3 have dumbed down then sprung out a beautifully worked out explanation of who dunnit.

Graphista · 10/01/2018 00:24

I disagree Ben played it more uptight obsessive Englishman

Kris was more young supposedly inexperienced but actually not daft

Kris was more “buffoon”. Not in an idiotic kind of way, he just gave off that impression and seemed clumsy. I think Ardal comes acros similarly but it will be interesting to see what his character turns out to be - I need to get Father Dougal out of my head. I agree that Ben was 100% uptight Englishman!

Ardal and Florence on the One Show now!

desertmum · 14/01/2018 12:36

Nope. Can't watch it with the new lead - it is just terrible and I am sooooo disappointed as I love the show. But he is wooden, forced, awful.

Didn't manage to watch the whole of the first episode.

Need to find some other sunshine infused show to watch.

cloudyweewee · 14/01/2018 12:45

Camille popped up in an episode of Fr Brown last week.

CocoLoco87 · 16/02/2018 21:32

Just caught up on yesterday's episode... I didn't like the fact the killer wasn't in the room for the final round up! Felt a bit unfinished. In general I thought the episode was a bit weak. But still love the show, and Florence's wardrobe Grin

Clawdy · 16/02/2018 23:22

I love the way it starts every week - a fairly nasty murder, then that lovely feel-good music, and the show's begun!

SorenLorensonsInvisibleFriend · 16/02/2018 23:39

This week's was a bit weird. On IMDb it suggested that the 'in memoriam' part of the credits would explain a plot rewrite for the actor not being able to complete the story. It felt very weird not to have the traditional denouement, and made the presence of the red-herring-retired-rough-fella pointless.

I like Ardal in it, he's sweet but clever, enthusiastic but not patronising. Florence is beginning to wear a little thin for me, however. She has no character! No interests, social life, family, friends.. I find that frustrating. JP and Cat from Red Dwarf are a delight. And the jaunty theme music kicking in straight after the discovery of a dead body is a winner every week!

Catherine needs to back away from Ardal, he's too sensitive and vulnerable for her wiles and heavy-handed seduction. Leave him alone! And mention your daughter once in a while!

(Also... Scooby Dougal 😂)

CocoLoco87 · 17/02/2018 07:26

I agree about Florence. Every week at the end, when she's hanging around Ardal I say to DH "Florence really needs a boyfriend...or someone her own age to hang out with!

BagelGoesWalking · 17/02/2018 18:57

I liked it before Kris Marshall, just about managed to watch him sometimes but can't get on with the new bloke. Just a very tired format now.

CocoLoco87 · 22/02/2018 22:01

"I think I might have to move in with you, Florence" Shock

I hope there's another series and I hope it has a bit more romance! (Not between Detective Hooper and Florence)

Clawdy · 22/02/2018 22:03

Sad it's ended, I know it's very formulaic, but it's also nice, feel-good viewing on dismal winter nights.

CremeBrulee · 22/02/2018 22:06

I'm obviously the only one that first this show and it's colonial viewpoint more than a bit uncomfortable and out of touch.

Clawdy · 22/02/2018 22:10

Well, all the black actors who appear in it obviously don't agree with you.

CremeBrulee · 22/02/2018 22:15

I know, but why do they need a series of crap white middle aged men to show them how to catch murderers???

How about someone with a different ethnicity or a woman? Or one of the competent black police officers getting a promotion to the top job?

Clawdy · 22/02/2018 22:44

But the top job is the Commissioner, who is played by Don Warrington.

Petalflowers · 23/02/2018 20:51

Was that the last one of the series?

cloudyweewee · 23/02/2018 21:09

Yes Sad

CremeBrulee · 23/02/2018 21:12

Hooray 🎉🎉

cloudyweewee · 24/02/2018 09:54

But it's coming back Grin

Clawdy · 24/02/2018 12:54

Hooray Smile

CremeBrulee · 24/02/2018 14:59

Nooooooo! ShockWine

Littlewhistle · 25/02/2018 16:13

It's a load of escapist nonsense on a winter's night. SO glad Kris Marshall has gone. I couldn't stand his OTT bumbling character
