You know how they put extreme opposites together for Wife Swap....well if you were on the programme, who would be your extreme opposite?

I was thinking about this last night as I watched it.

I dont know if I have an extreme opposite as I think I am normalish.

I allow sweets and biscuits and cakes and juice but in moderation.

I am a bit of a stickler for bedtime but that would be a bit boring on TV which is just as well as I have no intention of going on Wife Swap.

How about you?

I dont think I have an extreme opposite. I have thought about this too but dh and I have agreed we are too normal for them to be interested in us..lol

ChippyMinton · 23/04/2007 10:02

One of those manic cleaner types, shoes off at the front door, hoovers twice a day etc etc.

collision · 23/04/2007 10:03

nogoes · 23/04/2007 10:13

Someone who is really loud, shouts and swears and does everything for her dh. She would probably also eat lots of junk food.

MrsWho · 23/04/2007 10:33

Either a surrendered wife or a workaholic !

suzycreamcheese · 23/04/2007 10:37

someone who eats out of box loads of processed shit....and has a social life!!

bobsyouruncle · 23/04/2007 10:40

Someone with no routine, who is messy and has a great social life!

Kelly1978 · 23/04/2007 10:45

someone who only had one child and took them to every extra curicular activity going and spent loads on one on one time with them. The type that end up with a precocious child, who expects to be included in adult company all of the time.
My kids tend to be a bit on the naive side, I believe in revelling in childhood and don't teach them anything until I have to, and spend lots of time running around and playing silly games with them. They never get one to one time since there is four of them, and they know that adult time and conversation is for adults only and is not to be interrupted!

prufrock · 23/04/2007 10:45

They'd swap me with a hard-up family, who have to shop at Aldi, look after their own pre-school children, do their own cleaning and not have an expensive nailcare habit. But the dh would be at home quite a lot, and would have a job he enjoyed but could forget about, and they's all spend lots fo time together as a family doing cheap but enjoyable things.

In fact I was thinkig the other day that I would love to do a wife swap, but not on TV of course. So if anybody that fits that description would like to come and live my pampered but ultimately quite unfulflling life for a coupe of weeks shall we swap?

MummyPenguin · 23/04/2007 10:45

My extreme opposite would be a woman who hates animals. We have two large breed dogs and a cat who are very much part of the family. I would go bonkers if she made my dogs stay outside and didn't allow them into the house.

Like the OP, and many of us, I think I'd be hard to match up, as we're a 'normal' family. Perhaps one where the Husband was an army man and really military and strict, that wouldn't sit well with me.

Kelly1978 · 23/04/2007 10:46

I missed the end of the one last night as the phone went, but the last I saw was the fighting, and it really is just getting ridiculous now - they are putting such opposites together that they really aren't going to learn anything from each other.

Sherbert37 · 23/04/2007 10:48

I asked my dcs this and they agreed their new mummy would not have a diary, would not let them do every activity under the sun and would be a 23 year old blonde (well, DH said that). Think the viewing public would have a field day with our 'unhealthy cupboard' where all the choc bicuits are kept (but in fact the DCs named it).

SSShakeTheChi · 23/04/2007 10:54

A very strict household where everyone goes on about doing their duty and everything gets cleaned and done the right way all the time. Standard German household in fact...

Whenever I watch the German equivalent of that programme on TV, it makes me cringe. Is it the same in the UK? - Woman goes into someone else's home, opening all the cupboards with a disgusted look and saying how dirty it all is and what a slovenly pack the others are?

SSShakeTheChi · 23/04/2007 10:55

What's a surrendered wife?

Actrually bet they would send me to a SMOKING household. Yuk

lucy5 · 23/04/2007 10:56

Someone really tidy and house proud with strict routines.

suzycreamcheese · 23/04/2007 11:02

prufrock..dont shop at aldi, lots of fresh veg fish, but do look after ds, make all own food, clean up of course ..er, we all do, do my own nails and pedicures and live the cliche of poor...but happy!!
will i do?

Aquababe · 23/04/2007 11:03

'blonde thing' that's a bit harsh

hatwoman · 23/04/2007 11:17

I often think about this. I'm too boring and middle of the road to go on wifeswap.
I could be contrasted with a family who just can;t be arsed. that could include a footballer's wife type or a family of never workeds and don;t intend tos. either way they would spend a lot of time doing not a lot. and not much time doing family things at the weekend. they would read no newspaper or the sun. or the mail. or even the Telegraph. I could cope with being contrasted with either of those.

alterntaively - and my nightmare - would be to be contrasted with a family that sacrifices everything for their kids (money, jobs, time, ambition etc etc) it would mean that the program makers had decided to show me up to be selfish, ambititous in a negative way, and more interested in work not my kids.

JodieG1 · 23/04/2007 11:29

Probably someone that used cc, early weaned, formula fed because they didn't even want to bother bf, smacked their kids and forced routines on everyone. I'm quite AP so anyone that's at the other end of the scale would be a contrast. People that went out a lot and didn't want to spend time as a family.
