Although I don't think that Chris is Joseph, he really wasn't the poorest tonight - that was Ben by a long mile, Craig was also quite weak. The reality of it is that we are just watching to see which order Craig, Ben, Rob are eliminated until we get to the final four, Lee, Daniel, Lewis and Keith. All of those four could have the chance to win because they all have a USP - Lee and Daniel in thier professionalism and good looks, Lewis with his boy band appeal (one for the Nans - why do you think Nana Jean is the most focussed upon rather than his mum?) and Keith as the "ordinary boy made good, from Tesco to Ticket Sales" element. Really, it's up to the public then, and although Connie did win the Maria competition deservedly as the most competent and talented performer, this competition is a different kettle of fish, because it's about men, not women. Mainly it will be women/gay men voting and watching, if a straw poll of my friends is anything to go by, and they are influenced by different factors than men. For Maria, they will have been voting for talent (maybe for underdog/bit of a back story as well, e.g. Helena, Abi, Siobhan) but on Joseph, there's a real appeal in all of the potential last four to different people. A lot of people will really love the appeal of Lewis, he has that David Beckham/Westlife look. For me that is a massive turn off about him. Daniel also leaves me cold, whereas Lee IMHO is absolutely gorgeous, as well as being the most talented and likely to win. My integrity makes me question whether he SHOULD win though, as I don't like the thought of being manipulated. I am impressed by Keith, his looks don't repell me at all, and I like the whole rags to riches aspect, although I'm probably manipulated there too.
I do think it's a more open competition than Maria, partly because the standard is higher, but mainly because of the uncertainty of the voting dynamic.
If only I thought as much about politics as I do about ADWD...
