They all click their eyes shut in turn!
I saw them dance round today and it was like camberwick green!

Fabulous childrens television.

It's all very mysterious. According to the BBC press release, the blue pontipines are called the Wottingers. Although they can sometimes be seen dancing on the bandstand it seems no mumsnetters have actually seem them introduced properly. Although, if you google wottingers, you'll find lots of references to an episode aired on the 4th April when "The Pontipines set off for a walk around the garden. On their way, they meet their next door neighbours, the Wottingers, and then the kids go missing"

donnie · 16/04/2007 14:06

you are right treacletart! I just searched on wottingers !

I never knew all this time....!

bobsmum · 16/04/2007 14:12

Can you imagine the Christmas rush this year for the inevitable Ninky Nonk playset with inflatable HaaHoo. I predict a riot I predict a riot

donnie · 16/04/2007 14:14

what worries me is how small the toy pontypines ( and wottingers!) will be - they are miniscule on the telly!

caspercat · 16/04/2007 17:24

Franny....
It's on BBC2 at 10am if you only have terrestrial (sp?) telly. Or i have i missed something and you have no telly?? If so, many apologies!!

VoodooMama · 16/04/2007 20:38

I seriously will be buying as many characters as I can afford. Especially the Pontypine daddy. Love him!

franny, you haven't got a tv

what's all the furniture in your living room pointed at then?

Bucketsofdynomite · 16/04/2007 21:31

Oh yes, it is the only thing that gets my 2yr old excited enough to try and talk. I say 'what are those little things called?' He replies 'Hmm hmm hmm'. (Pontypines, duh!)

FrannyandZooey · 16/04/2007 21:35

LOL we did used to have one lucykate and the table it was on is still here, but with other stuff on, so the sofas are now kind of aimed at the printer and a large potted plant

Anyone else think Upsy Daisy is a bit well, 'loose'? Don't want to cheapen it but she is always trying it on with Iggle Piggle and flashed her knickers the other day. Mind you,I'm sure Iggle Piggle grabbed her bum the other day when he was trying to drag her into the Pinky Ponk....

BonyM · 17/04/2007 21:12

DD2 loves Igglepiggle and Makkapakka but doesn't like the Pontypines (specifically the one with the moustache!) or the Ninky Nonk (not really sure why...).

Igglepiggle's song is annoyingly catchy though isn't it? I keep finding it running round my head when I'm trying to get to sleep at night!

Bucketsofdynomite · 18/04/2007 07:43

Makkapakka seems a bit of a second class citizen though, what's his story? Maybe it's just a martyr complex?

mumtwogirls · 18/04/2007 07:56

DD2 loves this programme. She is entranced and to hear laugh is a pleasure. Well done Rag Doll for another bit of classic children's telly. As for the merchandise, apparently they will be released in September in time for the Christmas rush. I bet they will be hugely expensive.

macneil · 15/05/2007 16:28

Agh, when is this coming back? I love it so much, the rhymes and songs, annoyingly unforgettable as they are, are so soothing. I know it's wrong to show a tiny baby telly, but my daughter gurgles with delight when the Tombliboos go to bed. Although she screams angrily when the Pontipines come on. I feel so sorry for Makkapakka because he has to go to bed alone with a stone. Just a stone. I have an annoying male friend who said he hated Makkapakka because Makkapakka was always throwing s**t around, and I was like 'But he's the OPPOSITE of that! He's an obsessive compulsive! That's why he has to sleep with a stone, real people would get to him too much. He washes his soap with his sponge, then his sponge with his soap'. Then my friend admitted he'd only played the online game.

But I only have 15 episodes that I bit-torrented and I know there are 85 filmed unscreened ones. When will there be a DVD and when will they bring back the show?
