Last thread was maxed out.

Everyone disappeared...

Couldn't find ongoing 'live' comments, so all welcome here.
(Strictly no shenanigans on kitchen islands or dining tables, though).

I think I actually disliked every single character. Did anyone have any redeeming features?

Blonde doctor colleague had nice hair....

intimeandspace · 04/10/2017 23:53

Gemma had a nice necklace in the shagging scene. (Before earring-Gate).
The waitress served rum and "Pepsi" at breakfast?

WindyOutThere · 05/10/2017 01:48

waves at fellow Croxley resident!

derxa · 05/10/2017 07:10

Anyway, let's stop the sparring over Hitchin. No, it's not S'nalbans and it's def not Belsize, darlings, but it's okburbs, same as our now FAMOUS Croxley Green. I am now opening the booking window for guided tours of the film locations, with a Gemma themed visit to the pub. Jeroboam of white wine free if you can drink it all. Neil will be on hand to give his special "massage" and Simon/OldSteptoe/Corbyn will be signing copies of his latest misery memoir. Grin

Mumof41987 · 05/10/2017 07:53

Did anyone else think Simon had horrible teeth ? He looked ok until he smiled and all I could see was his god awful teeth !!!

intimeandspace · 05/10/2017 08:37

Waving back to you, windy! We could run the tour together. How much for tickets, d'ya reckon? Discount for people on this thread, naturally.

MrsFring · 05/10/2017 08:48

Somewhat off-point but how would they film the dual carriage way scene? Would they close the road and employ actors? Seems highly disruptive if so. If they didn't then how come they didn't cause a massive pile-up?

Roomba · 05/10/2017 09:07

Oh god, the breakfast scene made me physically squirm as it brought back memories of a similarly excruciating Premier Inn breakfast spent with my abusive histrionic ex. He wasn't threatening suicide or to never see our child again, but same drama queen sobbing while a poor 16yo waitress tried to pretend it wasn't happening. I felt mortified all over again during that scene!

Roomba · 05/10/2017 09:11

I was surprised Chekhov's pool never made an appearance though, after all the lingering shots of it and the now redundant references to Simon being unable to swim in S1.

millifiori · 05/10/2017 09:42

Roomba - that breakfast scene was brilliant wasn't it? I love how self serving and manipulative Simon is. When all other avenues fail he has no shame at copious weeping and trying to guilt-trip his son to look after him. Gemma may be a bit mad but he is way ahead.

Bananas I remember your summary of him from last thread. Even in the "normal RL" YouTube clip sent in, he still comes across as a prize smug gurning twat

RhiannonOHara · 05/10/2017 10:01

Me too. Although I think it was generally quite heavy on portent and then quite disappointing when it came to actually delivering. (the present to Kate, the 'dreadful' secret about Gemma's PND Hmm...)

2rebecca · 05/10/2017 12:12

The ending was silly. A GP wouldn't supply her ex with the means to kill himself and a nice handwritten letter. If he had gone through with it it would take the police 5 minutes to convict her of something requiring a long prison sentence, especially as she orchestrated his 2nd wife leaving him which led to him becoming suicidal. How would anyone gain from that?
Also agree Tom would probably have been easily found. A protected middle class boy age 15 or 16 would be unlikely to just vanish.
I don't want any more of it.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 05/10/2017 12:14

She's be implicating herself wouldn't she,daft mare?Hmm

MargoLovebutter · 05/10/2017 12:27

2rebecca, I thought that too, about the instructions for death being in her hand-writing and her finger prints all over the bottles of death juice & death pills.

itshappening · 05/10/2017 12:39

Parts of St Albans are grotty.

Just saying Grin

ImListening · 05/10/2017 13:19

Thought it was a load of old tosh.

Old tosh that I enjoyed watching Grin

CatwalkDream · 05/10/2017 13:30

Like 2Rebecca I also don't want any more of it. Started off promisingly. I binge-watched the first series. But just felt more and more messed about in the second series with implausible happenings. Not the crazy Breakfast scene - entirely plausible. Done things like that quite a few times Hmm. But lots of the other stuff including the ridiculous "suicide" scene. I felt the scriptwriters were taking the mick by then, or taking something ...

NikiBabe · 05/10/2017 17:56

It wasnt meant to end the way it did.

Inkanta · 05/10/2017 19:05

Wow - just seen the last episode. Very good!

Simon hurting Tom to hurt Gemma. Not so unrealistic.

The game stops when Tom goes. Maybe Tom knew that.

Then they regret it all.

Good drama! Smile

Yes, BC has terrible teeth Mumof

instantmashy · 06/10/2017 09:12

Well that was some weird batshit crazy stuff! It felt like we were on a roller coaster ride for the first two episodes and then the blooming thing broke down and we spent the last 3 episodes on a shite children's merry go round wondering when we might be allowed off. If there is a Series 3, I won't be watching -of course I will, I'm weak and pathetic and have a big streak of 'codswallop' in me-.
PS: I am a tour guide, I live within spitting distance of Hitchin, so the rest of you can back off - this will be my gig, I've already stockpiled the wine.
