I really liked 'The Impossible Planet'

Yeah, I think that was classic sci-fi & why I was such a fan in my teens and 20s. The theme of outsiders escaping their world/situation via travel to a new world. Heart rending but also magical.

Felt last week's episode could have done with being longer and better explaining things. It's one thing to leave things open to interpretation but you have to give the person watching/reading just the right amount of information and I, personally, found it unfulfilling.

This week's episodes Impossible Planet, was (as mentioned above) classic scifi, although admitedly I rewatched it on +1 as I dozed off after the first break and woke up as the final part had begun. But that's nothing to do with the show itself I'm just very very tired recently

Yes I liked this one. It kept me interested all the way through, whereas I found my attention wandering with last week's 'The Hoodmaker' or whatever it was called, which I was very disappointed about, as I love SciFi and was looking forward to this series so much.

Lillycat100 · 25/09/2017 10:28

I didn't understand last night episode , felt I was left with lots of unanswered questions . Maybe it was me

MusicToMyEars800 · 25/09/2017 12:19

I didn't watch the Hood maker one, but did watch the Impossible planet one last night, I really enjoyed it.

CoconutLush · 25/09/2017 12:22

I was really confused by impossible planet. Was he really the grandfather? Did they actually die when they ran out of oxygen and then swimming in the pool was them in heaven?

MusicToMyEars800 · 25/09/2017 12:26

I have no idea, I reckon it was them dying.
Does anyone know if there's another one on next Sunday?

MusicToMyEars800 · 25/09/2017 12:50

Oh I've just seen the advert for the next one it's called 'The Commuter'
It looks good.

raisedbyguineapigs · 25/09/2017 12:52

I preferred the Hoodmaker to this one, but I think Im in a minority, looking at the reviews. I thought there were other things that could have been explored, like why the robot lied to her about Earth. He's a robot, he's not meant to have complex feelings about lying to avoid hurting others. And why did he effectively commit suicide by walking outside? who was the picture of and why was he having the same dream? I thought he just either coincidentally looked like her grandfather so she latched onto him or they were somehow related. I think the end was all a dream that they both had when they were dying.

CrispyWonTon · 25/09/2017 19:35

Yeah I'm finding the episodes to be a little too short and a little too low on exposition. I don't want my hand to be held but they do feel like despite being based on short stories an hour each is a little too short. Maybe 90 minutes would have worked better

MipMipMip · 25/09/2017 23:06

Loved The Hoodmaker but wasn't impressed by this week's at all.

raisedbyguineapigs · 25/09/2017 23:09

Yes, and because of the ads its probably got a 45-50 minute running time. Its too rushed for such complex sci fi. 90 minutes would be better.
