The couples have been announced and rehearsals have started. So strap on your dancing shoes, it's time for Strictly 2017 πŸ’ƒπŸ»πŸ•ΊπŸΌ

Ceto yep I agree with you about the over the top reactions and especially the on the beat clapping. Unfortunately that is here to stay - the audience is constantly chivvied along to react. Before the live show, a singer was recorded (I think for next week's results show) with Neil and Katya dancing. This had to be done twice and apparently the reason (so we were told!) for the re-recording was that the audience hadn't reacted enthusiastically enough to the dancing!! Having personally always thought the dancing during the singing was a bit of an unnecessary distraction, I thought this was really interesting. Before the re-record, Darcey called Katya over and gave her some advice about her arms.

We have been to quite a few TV recordings (not strictly though) and we had repeat cheering and clapping several times over and over again so that it could be inserted into random places or when the stars of the show came on to stage area

So it doesn't sound and look the same when watching a recording to the finished product on TV

Yes the warm up guys come on during the breaks in filming when they are moving sets around etc

These were not live shows though like strictly

Would love to go to strictly recording

Is it filmed in Elstree studios?

ppeatfruit · 25/09/2017 11:04

I really liked Katya and Aston's jive , the costumes were good too, nice to see a girl in jeans. Craig seemed keen too Grin

I also loved Janette's 40s early style dress and hair FABUlLOUS!

RTKM · 25/09/2017 13:09

Ruth just said on Loose Women that she was the most nervous she has ever been

She said doing live TV for 30 years she is totally fine but she was so nervous on Saturday, made worst by watching everyone else who she thought were all perfect then she realised she was going to have to go out there and dance, she said that she thought she had forgotten her dance and Anton was brilliant and just took her outside and went thru the dance with her

Then she was sitting on the couch at the beginning she looked over at Craig and smiled and he just looked at her then she thought she wouldn't be able to get off the couch

She knew she went wrong and sort of had dance step blindness when she couldn't remember what came next

She said judges were totally right she was clinging on to Anton

She also said she just handed herself over to the costume, hair and make up dept for them to decide on her hair (which personally I think looked weird) but she wanted them to completely do what they wanted with her

She was in the bar with other people who turned out to be Craig's friends after the show having a laugh then he came in and said everyone remembers the ones who are top and bottom darling

She says the only way is up from now on

Hope she has a good week next week and isn't so nervous GlitterballGlitterballGlitterball

I enjoyed the first week but felt many of the contestants were being danced around by their partner, probably to cover up mistakes or distract the audiences focus. For example, it was noted that there wasn't a great deal of cha cha cha in David's dance but like others, I was distracted by how stunning his partner was.

Goes without saying that Debbie was technically the best dancer on the night and she really got into character.

Loved Gorka and Alexandra. People should give her a break about her shedding tears given her recent bereavement. He and Alexandra make a great team as they big have a very good work ethic. Hope they make it beyond week 3 this year as I want to watch him for a bit longer!

Joe is very sweet, especially his reaction when told about doing the jive in the first week. Katua worked him really hard, I think and she was clearly very proud of him at the end of the year f the dance. Is it just me or did Katya looked genuinely shocked when she kissed Joe on the lips? I think she was aiming for his cheek and he may have turned at the last second.

CeeBeeBee · 25/09/2017 14:25

Sorry, loads of auto correct but hope it makes sense!

RhiannonOHara · 25/09/2017 14:26

I watched Debbie again and she actually didn't really achieve the paso shaping and line; she's not pulled up in her core nearly enough and doesn't have the forward-thrust hips that she should. Compare and contrast her posture to Giovanni's.

I too thought the Katya/Joe kiss was meant to be on the cheek.

yesbutnobut · 25/09/2017 14:30

RTHK yes Elstree studios.

RTKM · 25/09/2017 14:55

Thanks GlitterballGlitterballGlitterball

Ceto · 25/09/2017 17:50

It always makes me laugh when professionals go ape, dancing frantically round their partners. They might as well hold up a large sign saying "Look, I'm trying to distract the judges from how useless s/he is, OK?"

ppeatfruit · 25/09/2017 17:55

Yes ceto I did say to the screen "Come on TJ calm down, you're not the contestant" He really did over do it!

Thank you!

PickledPoglet it's all incredibly slick and well organised. In the hour before the live show they did the recording for next week's results show. I think on other occasions they record the group dance then (as you can see from the Monkseal blog, the audience are different for the group dance - we didn't see this live). Then the live show ran and afterwards we left pretty quickly. When there is a results show then obviously it's a longer evening as the audience has to wait until the voting closes etc. So, yes, every minute counts but it's a well oiled machine.

FiveBoys and others who wondered about Chizzy, I also wondered whether her feet were just killing her after two weeks of rehearsing. And yes she seemed to be wearing knee supports so could have been in quite a bit of discomfort. It was just odd to me that a production person helped her up the stairs, with Pasha behind looking all solicitous; I'm not sure why he wasn't allowed to support her himself. I hope she stays in the show for a while as I really like her (and Pasha of course).

RTKM · 25/09/2017 18:35

Chizzy is on BBC2 it takes two tonight

You're welcome

kazzaD66 · 25/09/2017 19:09

Just watched ITT. A slightly tense green room with Brendan and Camilla sitting at opposite ends of the sofa. He didn't even look at her!

PickledPoglet · 25/09/2017 20:09

Thank you yesbutno, it all sounds amazing. I'd love to be in the audience someday Smile

Drinaballerina · 25/09/2017 21:20

Why is ITT not on the iPlayer? Just sat down to watch it and no sign of it.

Slartybartfast · 25/09/2017 21:29

I watched it on iplayer

yesbutnobut · 25/09/2017 21:37

So no Karen Hardy on IT2 this year - what a shame. Anyone else think she got the hump after losing out on the head judge position?
