Anyone? I'm loving it. Proper weird, obviously.

I know people who liked the first series but haven't bothered with this. Shame as I think this is pure Lynchy Frost goodness, no compromises.

I was so upset about how old Peaks ended with evil Coop out and good Coop trapped. Now we get a chance for a decent ending.

I don't expect to understand all of it, I don't think you're meant to, like a good piece of modern art.

Tatlerer · 01/09/2017 21:43

This series is amazing, I'm loving it!!

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 02/09/2017 08:48

I had a day to myself yesterday so I rewatched the series so far. I also exercised and did loads of kondooing so didn't feel too guilty. Picked up so much more. I need to watch Fire Walk With Me again, is it available online anywhere? I can only find it on dvd and can't be bothered to plug in the blue ray player.

Angry
MrsGWay · 04/09/2017 16:41

I agree. Reading the internet hasn't helped either.

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 04/09/2017 17:00

Why Angry

I thought it was utterly brilliant.

Won't spoil but that was so bloody Lynchian.

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 04/09/2017 17:01

Let's face it, it was never going to be normal was it! Grin

Auntiedahlia · 04/09/2017 17:26

Just finished the last one. Eh?

MrsGWay · 04/09/2017 17:45

I get that and I was not surprised really. I think the tease at the Sherrif's Office made it all a bit harsher though. It doesn't help that a lot of it happened in the dark so I couldn't properly see what was going on. I'm going to watch again tonight with all lights off to see if it helps.

I must admit I got the same feeling I did when I finished Stephen King's Dark Tower series.

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 04/09/2017 18:37

It left me with a deep sense of unease, and a lot to think about. Apparently this is the ending him and Mark wanted all those years ago.

There were some great bits and there were some utterly shit bits. And then it ended up with some sort of Quantum Leap style thing. The Internet forums are hard to deal with because if you say anything negative (e.g. What was the point of all the Audrey stuff, why bring Waldo in, the Gersten storyline went nowhere, what was the deal with the shovels, what was the point of Red....etc) then you get slated for not understanding art.
A lot of it was way too self indulgent (making Gordon Cole front and centre for everything for a start) and while there was some pure joy and genius I think there was too much faff and the ending way too rushed. I expected loose ends but not this many. Today I feel like I had a really lovely boyfriend who promised me the world and I thought he was my soul mate and he's gone and dumped me Grin
Enjoyed the ride though. Mostly.

Piffpaffpoff · 04/09/2017 22:35

I was so thrilled with ep 17 then utterly bemused by 18. I thought the sex scene was overly gratuitous although I read one review that gave a good rationale for how it could be considered well and truly within context.

My overall feeling was one of frustration. But I like ends tied up neatly.

jaimebravo · 04/09/2017 22:47

We are left with a lot of food for thought with this ending, it is like a cliffhanger again (more in the pipeline? That maybe my wishful thinking!).
Mark Frost has a book coming out in October so maybe the loose ends will be tied up in that.
All in all I enjoyed the whole series from start to finish, absolutely amazing viewing.

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 05/09/2017 06:47

I think the sex scene was essential, that's when things changed. When he walked out the next morning it was from a different building, to a different car. I think 17 resolved the Peaks story arc then the overreaching arc is the fight between good and evil, which is eternal, never ending and relentless. The second episode was more like Mulhullond drive.

I also found it ironic that he ended up in a "Twin" Peaks, an alt dimension.

Piffpaffpoff · 05/09/2017 07:27

DAMN that was pretty much the rationale I referred to, which I get.
I think I need to go back and watch 18 again.

Auntiedahlia · 05/09/2017 10:26

It helps to watch Fire Walk with Me. I watched it last night on You Tube.

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 05/09/2017 18:12

I'll def watch FWWM again, haven't seen it in years. I also need to watch 18 again with wine, i understand Twin Peaks more when I'm tipsy.

Coop was different again in the alt verse, like a cross between good and bad coop.

What does everyone think happened next? I like to think Coop would have run for the hills, then found that 'verses version of the FBI.

jaimebravo · 05/09/2017 18:29

Coop was more similar to bad Coop in Judys coffee place in his manner to the waitress and the guys giving her hassle. He didn't appear to be attentive to Diane in the bedroom either, I would assume Good Coop would be very enthusiastic!
When Diane saw the tulpa outside the motel maybe there was a Coop tulpa there as well when he went in for the room.
It's on again at 9 so definitely I think some wine would help interpret it better!

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 05/09/2017 18:55

I swear to god after a couple of drinks it all makes sense! Grin

Piffpaffpoff · 05/09/2017 21:47

I did think Coop was less Coop than normal inJudy's.

Kyle McLachlan is so good, just as you knew instantly he was good Coop and not Dougie when he woke up, so you knew he was different in the diner.

MargaretCabbage · 06/09/2017 07:19

I loved this series, especially episodes 14-17 but I didn't really enjoy the last one. You know when people say they can't watch Twin Peaks because they just can't understand it? I feel a bit like one of those. I think mostly just because Cooper didn't seem like Cooper and I want to know what happened when he went into the motel, his behaviour in Judy's and the sex scene made me really uncomfortable. And I want to know where Audrey is!

I spent last night having the worst sleep after watching the finale because I was having the weirdest dreams.

jaimebravo · 06/09/2017 07:59

I watched it again last night and i was thinking maybe the real Dale went back to Vegas to Janey E and Sunny Jim, he seemed warm and affectionate when he saw them as opposed to Dougie.
Maybe the tulpa that Mike manufactured from his hair was the Coop that left the lodge to Diane. From what i can tell the tulpas don't seem to smile and appear distant(if bad Coop, Dougie, and Dianes tulpa are to go by).

MargaretCabbage · 06/09/2017 14:40

I like that tulpa theory, it explains what I found wrong with that episode.

Tatlerer · 06/09/2017 21:46

Just caught up. Wow! Epic scream from Sheryl Lee. She isn't half good at them!
