Does anyone else watch this?

I cry all the way through it , every week

The brothers this week made me cry. They were so sweet.

Ah they seem happy to have found each other. The sister with twins. Are the twins identical ? They couldn't tell which was which in photo but they look quite different now.

Hepzibar · 30/08/2017 22:07

Don't look like identical, but all three sisters look alike.

I was glad that Laura's dad had told his family about her, that seemed genuine. Looks like it was financially impossible for him to ever return to UK to see 1 child, when he had several others to look after.

ToEarlyForDecorations · 30/08/2017 22:09

If he knew of her existence, why did he not try to contact her ?

Kinraddie · 31/08/2017 09:57

Was strangely unmoved by last night's episode. First one I haven't had the tears welling up.

ToEarlyForDecorations · 31/08/2017 10:24

Last week there was a bloke who as a teenager had got a girl the similar age as him pregnant. I think they were working in a hotel or something.

She later found out she was expecting and sent him a message saying she thought she might be pregnant. He didn't follow this up at the time and it's assumed his mother didn't pass on any messages from her.

Nicky Campbell tried to hide his feelings as he gently described that his daughter was looking for him. The guy in question did break down when he was told of her existence. Was he genuine do you think ?

He was ok to meet the girl but his attitude was pretty much (to me at least) well fancy that ! I've got a daughter now.

Sparklingbrook · 31/08/2017 10:31

The bit of the show that gets on my nerves is when Nicky/Davina go back having found the relative but have a long waffly conversation before finally telling them.

As soon as they answer the door they should tell them IMO.

SumThucker · 31/08/2017 11:17

Why isn't the episode from last week on (not this Wednesday's)?

I only watch on catchup and episode 4 & 6 is there, no 5?

Snap8TheCat · 31/08/2017 12:27

Kinraddie yes me neither. Can't put my finger on it.

One of the twins seemed very angry and bitter.

Crispsheets · 31/08/2017 13:25

Yes I thought that Sam

Link to where you can find the USA ones ie. channel numbers.

Think I must be getting immune. Not feeling either of these tonight.

Or maybe it's because there are 2 selfish women who didn't leave any clue whatsoever to the father of the children they gave up.

I understand the need to give up the children for adoption but not the fact that they didn't leave anything at all in case they ever turned up.

Hepzibar · 06/09/2017 21:36

Davina gets on my nerves and all!

Petalflowers · 06/09/2017 22:46

I think in days gone past, adopted children weren't expected to find their parents and vice verses. Children's names were changed, and their whereabouts not disclosed to the bio parents. Having a child outside wedlock was considered to be shameful and the children were known as bastards. Consequently, people didn't think to leave any clues.

SaguaroBlossom · 07/09/2017 22:01

More sadness in that the brother from last night, who lived in America, has recently died. Just so pleased that the two if them did get to meet, even if only for a short time.

Kinraddie · 13/09/2017 09:27

I've been watching the US version on the channel TLC. It is very similar in a lot of ways - same graphics, same format, 2 stories , 2 presenters, but as it's America, it's also wildly different in other ways. If the researchers find out that the person they are looking for has died, they actually tell the living relative (who is looking) on camera. Cue tears and wailing. The 2 presenters cry regularly, they overshare, they do the reunions in random houses, not hotels/cafes, and they actually do most searches by DNA samples!
Having said all that, I love it! Saw one episode last night where the adopted lady found her birth mum and they actually worked together as nurses in the same hospital!

Snap8TheCat · 13/09/2017 18:57

Oh the one last night where they already knew each other was incredible!

Petalflowers · 13/09/2017 20:48

I've seen that one also! They seem to mention DNA a lot more, and Ancestry.com, and imply the presenters do all,the research. I'm sure researchers do. I wish they would do an update like on the UK ones. The American host is good looking Blush.

Hepzibar · 13/09/2017 21:20

I can't remember seeing this one the first time round?

Crying already though.

Hepzibar · 13/09/2017 22:07

Sobbed from 10 minutes in.

What a bloody tragedy for two young people and a domineering matriarch.

Everyone seemed absolutely lovely in tonight's program.

Kinraddie · 14/09/2017 09:15

I remembered the story of Inge, what a happy outcome for them all. I'm not sure why it was repeated from a couple of years ago? It didn't add anything did it?

ALemonyPea · 14/09/2017 13:38

Just watched last nights episode. The dad sobbing got me going. It's as if all those years of pain he'd kept stored away were finally released. I'm glad Chantal was reunited with them both.
