it's just very cheesy and silly now. The doctor is unpleasant now where he used to have more of a jokey/grumpy relationship. And the table/desk constantly piled with cakes is a bit childish.

I love how catarella mixes up the names lol

The last one was not based on a book as far as I recall.

I've read them all and the new series seems to be brand new. I'm not sure who is writing these - a cheese-bot!

Sadly (according to the Radio Times) he passed away last year, in Ragusa.

Where can I watch old episodes?

Not sure if it's still in the ether. There are boxset dvds (our library has them).
