Saturday Kitchen's lack of manners towards teetollers!

I watched Saturday Kitchen yesterday and they had Nadiya Hussein of Bake Off fame on there. At the end they got the wine expert to recommend a wine for the dish and there was no alternative offered to Nadiya who is teetotal. They even proceeded to raise their glasses for 'Cheers!' while she stood there with no drink at all!!! So rude BBC!

She did join in on the non alcoholic gin pea cocktail earlier though.

I agree - they could have found a nice non boozey option for her.

But then as a veggie a feel a bit like that when they are all tucking into a meaty dish - especially when it's something that has a brilliant and obvious way to show it as a veggie option too.

I agree UK, it's very geared towards boozing meat eaters. My DD is vegetarian and I'm always eager to find more ideas. I just found the way they carried on and excluded her so rude.

They had a rhubarb and ginger squash alternative to wine earlier in the programme, so they didn't totally ignore her non drinking.

It's only a taste of wine, not a full on booze session

I think you're over reacting
I watched them making spicy food once and I hate spicy food, wont they think about me??

Giddyaunt18 · 16/07/2017 14:25

No it's not that every taste needs to be catered for as much as it was the act of pouring every person present a drink and not Nadiya. That's just rude.

She could have been consulted beforehand and said she didn't want anything? It's hardly worth it anyway

Giddyaunt18 · 16/07/2017 19:08

She did actually make a comment. She said the food was lovely but it would have been nice to have a nice cordial or something!

They can be so rude to the guests. James Martin used to be scathing towards veggie guests. If you can't cook veggie food you shouldn't call yourself a chef and if you can't be polite to guests you should bugger off and play with yourself (I strongly suspect that JM has a poster of himself on his bedroom ceiling).

They should ditch the wine bit. 10:30am is a bit too early to be talking wine, especially if last nights' bottle is still talking to you Wink
