Honestly, how is this utter bilge the best original material Netflix have access to?!

Badly written, turgid, wholly unbelievable, zero chemistry between the people who, y'know, require something at least resembling chemistry for the plot to even work. Naomi Watts' character is so bloody dull and one dimensional that you find yourself not giving a single solitary shit about what happens to her.

It is actually quite unintentionally funny in places watching her switch between prickly WASP with perfect life and huge wine glasses (so you know she's rich and dead classy of course) to her bad girl alter-ego (aka tiny bit of eyeliner and a leather jacket) yet still fails to express a single convincing emotion on either side of her identity seesaw.

Woeful.

I wasn't impressed with the first episode, watched another to see if it got better, but sadly it didn't.

Jean/Diana is not a sympathetic (or even interesting) character. The writing is very weak. I keep waiting for something to happen, but it never does.

I find myself not giving a shit what happens.

I watched it all Blush mainly because I like to have seen things fully before I slate them on the internet Grin.

The portrayal of her as a therapist was just ridiculous to me. I don't even mean how she acted unprofessionally but the stupid little things like her scribbling 'Boundaries' on her notepad and then circling it and putting a decisive dot under it lie it made it more serious or legitimate. And the red apple line . We're meant to believe this woman is a PHD educated, experienced practitioner? Nope.

I didn't mind it in the beginning but it's all getting a bit silly now.

Great hair though and i'd love to know what's the lipstick NW is wearing.

X-posted in a similar thread...

I watched the whole thing over a couple of days whilst DP away.

I've read a lot of reviews which suggest it was terrible, but I actually thought Watts' acting was immense. The tiniest movements in her face to convey her feelings, I thought it was pretty impressive.

It reminded me of You Me Her. Bored professional housewife, here a therapist, there an architect, realises she wants some excitement in her life, and so gets a bit reckless and meets another younger 27 year old female and gets a bit carried away with it...

Spoiler...

I HAAAAAAAATED the ending though. Did not understand it. Did you??

Aaaaaand it's been cancelled, quicker than any other show in the history of Netflix.

Quelle surprise 😂.

I tried to watch this. So boring! Gave up halfway through the first episode.

I must admit I enjoyed her meltdown at her daughter's party. It felt like MN moment.

I was hoping you meant the classic film Gypsy with Natalie Wood as the good girl turned stripper and the appalling mother. I love that film.
