So glad to see this thread. I'm finding this series utterly captivating. Some really terrific acting. Sean Bean is surely going to be on the awards list.

I thought the actor who played Carl in the last episode was brilliant too.

So nice to see kudos for Mr Bean. The best performance I thought he'd ever given was in The Accused and now this! Totally compelling. Will have to check out Cavalry.

So nice to see kudos for Mr Bean.

That conjures up a very different image. Grin

It's a brilliant series, isn't it? Quite rare these days to have such a multi-faceted character played so subtly. I agree Sean will be up for all the awards!

There have been so many shocking scenes but I really drew my breath in when Roz walked across the roof last week; also when Anna Friel first found her mum on the bed. Great acting from the women too.

Yes such a great series. I'm looking at Sean Bean in a totally different way now

A thumbs up from me for at least not being detective led, but I also think it's a wasted opportunity as all it does is preach to the converted with its sledgehammer approach.

Just caught up with the final episode and cried. Excellent tv!

RainaBaina · 05/07/2017 18:09

Ah, the final 15 mins or so were brilliant. The "you wonderful priest" bit was so cheesy yet so moving and his mother's death: "you were a wonderful mother" when she clearly wasn't. He eased her passing and forgave her.

glitterlips1 · 05/07/2017 18:15

Yes, I think he has been good, but he is rather the same in everything he does!

raspberrysuicide · 05/07/2017 20:39

I'm sure I commented on a different thread about this programme but can't find it now.

What I said was that I did a week of guided prayer and I happened to watch this after my first session and it really struck me as being rather apt. I spoke to my prayer guide about it and the beautiful poem about a kestrel and the story of him waiting for 4 hours for the kestrel to come back and that's why he became a priest.
The last episode had me in tears, what a beautiful ending

Where/How can I get hold of a copy of Calvary. No longer on BBC IPlayer. Tnx.

Great series. So pleased Father Michael got some liberation from his troubles at the end of it.

Sharpe starring the lovely SB is on the Drama channel on Saturday mornings. Maybe on the catch up online too. Has been on for the last 2 Sats at least, I hope there are more!

SB is brilliant as Sharpe. Takes me back to being young and impressionable! Swoon :)

NormaSmuff · 14/07/2017 06:58

he is brilliant, and also, only having watched 2 episodes so far of Broken, he is doing marvellous things for the catholic church.
No doubt I might be proved wrong but Sean Bean is so very lovable in this.

Dippysnowoman · 14/07/2017 15:58

Have caught up on all the episodes and have to say Sean Bean is definitely on my "I would 😉" list
