It's on again next week bon

There's a few 'celebrity specials' followed by an actual members of the public series.

This weeks was so much better

kali110 · 01/07/2017 02:48

I thought it was awful.
The challenges are shit!
The riddles that aren't riddles, challenges that aren't challenges, simply unscrewing a few bolts what is this?
And what is with that hand???
No. Just no.
They have fucked up yet another programme.

JustAloneSeeingOnlyNothing · 01/07/2017 06:05

Grin But It's always been shit, since Richard Obrien left anyway.

JustAloneSeeingOnlyNothing · 01/07/2017 06:36

And the only reason it was good with him presenting is becuase he used to be a really good presenter, he knew how to draw people in and pretend it was all real. what with his back stories and weird relationship with mumsey, getting his harmonica or guitar out for "excitement music" and the like.

The others have missed that it takes more than just "Look i'm being wacky, isn't this person a bit stupid" to sell a crap show.

bonfireheart · 01/07/2017 20:16

Current presenter doesn't like people touching him hence the fake hand.

JustAloneSeeingOnlyNothing · 08/07/2017 07:00

Laser games are unfair.

policevanpizzavan · 08/07/2017 18:09

It started off dreadfully but it has improved as it's moved on, this week was very good, better games too.

kali110 · 08/07/2017 18:12

I poved the old crystal maze!
Loved Richard and loved the challenges!
Not bothering with the new one, they've ruined it!
I don't know any of my friends that like the new version.

bonfireheart · 10/07/2017 12:46

Really enjoying it. DD9 who hasn't seen the original is loving it too. People get too precious about "remakes".

professorvanvonsteinenburg · 10/07/2017 12:58

It's not even really a remake, they've not really tried to update the concept at all, they've kept what worked.

I think the only real difference is that there is now 5 instead of 6 in a team, obviously to keep the time to the now standard shorter show times of 45 minutes.

bonfireheart · 11/07/2017 19:28

I like it but then I'm always easy pleased!

professorvanvonsteinenburg · 13/07/2017 08:37

The "only" difference? Really!?
Apart from the fact that the original was a brilliant programme and this is total, unmitigated shite!

OK, so I don't like Richard Ayoade anyway so that doesn't help.
The guests are so-called celebrities (though I have heard of hardly any of them) and are mostly quite thick.
And the challenges are so dumbed down it is almost embarassing to watch.

Saw it once. More than enough.

JustadaftProfessor · 14/07/2017 08:25

The guests are so-called celebrities

That's becuase it's currently celebrity specials for the stand up to cancer charity....

You can't really blame a celebrity specials series for having celebrities..

The actual Series, with the general public starts later in the year.

HairsprayQueen · 14/07/2017 09:22

I wish that if they were using the same set of games twice (with one or two changes) that they'd have alternated the weeks they were shown, so it wasn't as repetitive for 2 weeks in a row.

And they need to sort the lasers out, the gaps are obviously way too narrow!

I'll hold out for the regular people's shows but it's not really doing it for me yet.

wanderings · 18/07/2017 21:04

That presenter is very deadpan; he really is no match for when Richard O'Brien did it. I agree that O'Brien made it brilliant by pretending it was all real. "Now children, if you're playing with nuclear waste, please be very very careful. There are advantages and disadvantages. The disadvantage is that you're gonna die. The advantage is you'll be easy to find in the dark."

"I've helped you enough now. I'll do my impression of... of a tree. It goes down well at parties."

I've done the Crystal Maze experience in London several times (I just can't get enough of it), I think some of the mazemasters there were far more entertaining than Ayoade. (Some of the mazemasters there are women, by the way!)
