Exciting

eddiemairswife · 10/05/2017 22:36

I thought it was excellent. I see the Daily Mail is far from impressed.

elkegel · 10/05/2017 22:36

I can accept everything except near civil war being caused by the King speaking up for the freedom of the press. Can't imagine people being that bothered tbh. Especially as the press would presumably be in favour of it and would be writing about the fabulous Charles III.

ilovesooty · 10/05/2017 22:37

I rather enjoyed it. I liked the blank verse.

elkegel · 10/05/2017 22:38

The other thing that bothers me is the casting of Harry. Harry is fit, not some middle aged blob.

NormaSmuff · 10/05/2017 22:38

Yea u can't see people uprising

NormaSmuff · 10/05/2017 22:39

Sorry, I can't believe there would be an uprising

TealStar · 10/05/2017 22:40

I thought it was bloody awful and cringed at the ghostly apparitions!

lucydogz · 10/05/2017 22:40

loved the blank verse, and thought the acting was superb. Like elkegel I thougnt the idea that there would will civil unrest if the moanrch didn't sign a document totally unbelievable.
Where else have I seen the sinister looking aide? It bugged me all the way through.

Justaboy · 10/05/2017 22:44

I thought Charlotte Riely was excellent as Kate shes come up in the world since shaggin Tommy in Peaky Blinders;!

eddiemairswife · 10/05/2017 22:47

Foyle's War lucydogz?

lucydogz · 10/05/2017 22:51

just remembered - The 5th Element (old Bruce Willis film)

QueenoftheAndals · 10/05/2017 23:01

The other thing that bothers me is the casting of Harry. Harry is fit, not some middle aged blob.

Yes, and they did the opposite with the William as he was better looking than his real life counterpart.

elkegel · 10/05/2017 23:02

Yes exactly!

Maudlinmaud · 10/05/2017 23:11

I'm watching. God forgive me but the Diana scene was a little Macbeths the witches prophecies.

Choccywoccyhooha · 11/05/2017 00:54

Oh I loved it.
When George asked where Mummy was, I jokingly said to dh: "Mummy's outside having a fag!" And she bloody was!

I do feel slightly like when you wake up from a dream where someone has annoyed you, and you spend the whole morning pissed off with them in real life. I am furious with Kate!

29Palms · 11/05/2017 01:38

There's no truth in the rumour that Charles would reign as George.
Almost all the monarchs have gone under their first names, it only became a bit of an issue after Queen Victoria, because she wanted all her heirs to be Albert.

Edward VII was Albert Edward but didn't want to be King Albert.
George V 's first name was George
Edward VIII 's first name was Edward
George VI was another Albert, but he used George for continuity after the abdication.
Elizabeth is Elizabeth.

And if they really think the name Charles is unlucky, why would the Queen have chosen it? All the Royal names have got some kind of baggage.

SenecaFalls · 11/05/2017 01:59

They don't even have to use one of their names. He could call himself King Kevin if he wanted to. I think he will be Charles. He floated the George thing when the Queen Mother was alive probably to please her. I think he will want to use the name he has been known by for continuity. It is likely going to be a relatively short reign.

VanillaSugar · 11/05/2017 10:08

I loved it and I will be looking at Kate Middleton with fresh eyes after this. Charlotte Riley is married to Tom Hardy in real life.

KateMiddletonsOtherMum · 11/05/2017 10:10

I'm disgusted that I wasn't in it. I kept rewinding to see if I was, but no. Not even a children's birthday party scene with nice disposable tableware Angry

Maudlinmaud · 11/05/2017 10:14

Again Kate Middleton was portrayed as a Lady Macbeth type character, I fell asleep last night so didn't see it all but that was my take on it. Really enjoyed what I did see.

Magicpaintbrush · 11/05/2017 11:32

Crikey, it's like Shakespeare has come back to life with this one. Very interesting! Not sure they cast the right guy as Harry, and Diana's ghost was a bit pantomimey (laughable, but I think that was the actress, not the premise) - but other than that it is good stuff. It's a shame Tim Piggott Smith is recently passed away, he was very good.

MajesticWhine · 11/05/2017 11:50

I thought this was absolutely terrible, but feel like I have maybe missed the point of it.

Magicpaintbrush · 11/05/2017 12:06

I wonder what the Royal family make of it all (if they have watched it)? Shock

coldcanary · 11/05/2017 12:32

I caught the last half hour & im going to watch it all the way through tonight, I didn't realise it was done as a Shakespeare play! What I saw looked really good, Oliver Chris was excellent as William.
