Is anyone watching this? What a lovely and interesting programme. What I wouldn't give to hop on a plane and fly off to Spain this very evening. The places she visits are spectacular. I am so jealous of her having such an amazing job.

Lucky youFlowers

I wangled in a visit last month.

fussychica · 29/04/2017 11:22

I know I am lucky, used to live here now spend 6 months a year but seriously thinking of returning full time, just got to work out a few things.

AnyFucker · 29/04/2017 11:24

I need to retire.

It's about the only benefit of getting old but it is a big oneGrin

Dh and I have both really enjoyed this series and find her very easy to watch.

Which I can't say about that many other presenters, now I come to think about it!

So do I furlinedsheepskinjacket. She has some gorgeous dresses. I have been to some of the places she has and would love to visit Spain again. I have been enjoying her programmes. I think some of the posters on here are just jealous.

LockedOutOfMN · 01/05/2017 15:58

She filmed in a bar where we were eating and she was lovely to everyone caused the minimum fuss, and spoke very good but not fluent Spanish. She is very pretty in real life too although like other posters I also would hope that we're past discussing hair and legs in 2017. Hmm

I like Alex but she was so gushing about Italy it could have been written by the Italian Tourist Board. Is this series the same?

Gallavich · 09/05/2017 18:44

I love Alex Polizzi. As she speaks Italian then she will understand loads of Spanish and find it very easy to pick up.

I know this is an old thread, and I rarely post a criticism, but the greatest objection I found was in what she DIDN'T say, rather than what she did. No, I did not object to her going to the bull ring. I think she covered its horrors but was fair about the Spanish traditions. However, in this as so many things, she does not discuss the obvious: Hemingway's love affair with the corrida in The Sun Also Rises and The Most Dangerous Summer. To leave this out is to not have done her homework. She also does not delve adequately into the kitsch of flamenco in modern Spain, only covering serious flamenco which most tourists are not exposed to. I also objected to her not questioning the tradition of males-only at the state Andalusian riding school. Is there an elephant in the room along with the horses? And I'm an equestrian so that's a serious mark against her. Lastly, for all her drooling over the Spanish churches including Santiago de Compostela (and I have been fortunate to walk parts of the Camino) is the Spanish Inquisition not in her curriculum? That was just bizarre. Now, for the compliment: the itinerary was first rate. Maybe the best of any show I've watched on Spain.
