Anyone watching this?

Those poor children who lost their family members. What a fantastic idea to bring them together to talk about their loss with others who know exactly how it feels.

I thought this was such a sensitively filmed and edited programme.

It really got the message home about how important it was for the children to write their own narrative. When one of the therapists said if your hamster had died people would talk about it, so why not when your mum's died. By trying to protect the children out, the adults at the time possibly made it harder for them to process their loss, unintentionally of course.

The candle ceremony was heartbreaking.

I really liked how the facilitator had herself been on one of the courses as a child so the children knew that she'd experienced the same.

It was so good that the carers/remaining parents also did the same thing. Hopefully that will have helped them to be able to communicate without being worried about upsetting the children further.

It brought me to tears. So sad on many levels. Such brave children

Squirtlelover · 12/03/2017 19:28

Why can't I find this in catch up?

Squirtlelover · 12/03/2017 19:30

"on" catch up, sorry...

WhirlwindHugs · 12/03/2017 21:03

Not sure! It was on channel 4?

Does anyone know if this documentary is still available ANYWHERE to download or to stream. My mother has asked me to look (As i am a 'tech head', as she says) but i cannot find it online for love nor money.

I find this slightly odd that a documentary as meaningful and educational is no longer available for viewing in any shape or form....

Any help in finding a link would be much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance....

Kevin.

@oddpoppet I even emailed Winstons Wish about how to find it as I know a family who I think would benefit from seeing it and it's literally nowhere to be found. Winstons wish said they'd let me know if it becomes available so if I hear I'll post here.

OddPoppet · 17/05/2017 17:02

@Rockspin That would be much appreciated.

I myself also Emailed Winstons Wish and Channel4 (Who aired it) with much the same reply as you were given.

I still find it highly odd that the charity itself that commisioned such a documentary and the company that aired it are not willing to release it to the public for educational needs and/or possible emotional release for other families who have gone through similar traumas.

Hi all, I think the programme you are talking about is now available on 4OD , if you search in A-Z.

Really powerful documentary.

Still not properly available on 4od but I finally found it here: www.dailymotion.com/video/x5edwh3
