Nick Ferrari is an absolute arsehole isn't he? He was the one in the Knox documentary going out n about "what an amazing story" when a family had lost a much loved daughter and sister. Gross individual.

AlwaysOneMissing · 01/03/2017 16:21

Has there been another documentary on? I saw Moorside but has something else been on?

Julie bushby wasn't even a friend of Karen Matthews and actually only got involved with the family when Shannon went missing by starting up the search... 😦 so just shows that she has used the whole thing to claim her 15 minutes of fame.

DigestiveMuncher · 01/03/2017 17:18

Obviously she knew of her, was an acquaintance but was not friendly with Karen like she has made out throughout.

PortiaCastis · 01/03/2017 17:22

Shannon should be left alone to get on with her life. Her name's been the subject of bleddy gossips for years.
How must she feel about all the gross and tasteless programmes anyway?

Fighterofthenightman · 01/03/2017 17:26

Karen Matthews did serve her sentence. Unless a minimum term in custody is imposed the sentence given is half in custody and half on probation. She served four years in custody and four on probation which was her sentence.

DigestiveMuncher · 01/03/2017 17:30

Even if she served her full sentence through 4 years in jail and 4 years on probation IMO it's not enough. 8 years should mean 8 years in prison not 4 on probation out in the real world.

Fighterofthenightman · 01/03/2017 17:34

That's what sentencing means though. As soon as you're sentenced you're given a release date from custody half way through. Then you spend the rest of the time on probation with conditions and if you break them you can be recalled to prison and then serve the entirety of the sentence in custody.

Damn I missed this and wanted to watch it, does anyone know what channel it was on so I can get it on catchup?

DigestiveMuncher · 01/03/2017 23:21

It was on channel 5 Lemon

Alfieisnoisy · 02/03/2017 19:18

To be fair to Julie Bushby, the community police officer seemed to really respect and like her. I suspect she had her heart in the right place in searching for Shannon and in mobilising her community for that. Whatever has gone on since then is different but at the time she put herself out to really help a neighbour in need.

AddALemon · 02/03/2017 19:20

Ahh thankyou Digestive

DalekBred · 03/03/2017 16:25

It must have cost a lot of taxpayers money to give the mother a new identity, New place to live, money to set her up, money to live on. Those things won't come cheap.
Nobody begrudges Shannon a new, identity. but why are,we spending money helping a criminal

This ^^ drugging and kidnapping a child. and only four years?

(wonder if the burglar who broke into Simon Cowells house gets more than that just cos SCs a celeb!)

and yy totally agree about Julie. in the drama on BBC she came across as neglecting her own kids in her search for SM.

and these recent programmes are just giving Julie and KM even more fame and attention.

do Iread right, passing a newspaper shop, that KM made a comment about the McCanns? or was that something else?

ChristopherWren · 06/03/2017 09:33

It wasn't Nick Ferrari on the Amanda Knox documentary - it was Nick Pisa who I thought was a disgrace to his profession.

I don't think the programme should have been made, although I did watch it. There is a young girl out there who is attempting to build a life for herself and this is her real life story, not something that should be made into a drama for 'entertainment'.

Megatherium · 06/03/2017 09:49

We have to spend money helping criminals with new identities because of the way certain papers try to incite the lynch mob mentality. If they would have the sense not to, it could save a fortune.

PortiaCastis · 06/03/2017 10:39

I agree with ChristopherWren Making tv programmes about that poor girl is awful but still the vultures have to feed on something
