I like him, and think he's going to be good. DH says it's played itself out now, and the next series won't be worth watching. The one thing we both agree on is that the daughter is awful. Hope she's not in the next series.

I hated it. It was Father Dougal gestures and facial expressions. Don't think I can bear to watch it again.

hugoagogo · 20/02/2017 21:08

I still miss Ben Miller and Camille
The commissioner has become a caricature of himself
But I still have a special dance to go with theme music Blush

kidisagoat · 20/02/2017 21:30

I think I'm going to like him, was never mad about Kris Marshall although I loved Ben Miller.
It must be a great gig for those actors, going to the Caribbean for a weeks filming, I bet they're lining up to audition.

BackforGood · 20/02/2017 21:52

I like 'Dougal' too.
Not sure what people have got against the daughter ? Confused
I don't even know wht he had any ties with him as he allegedly only came over for a couple of weeks holiday in the first place.
Florenc's clothes also irrationally annoy me. I know its not, but there are shorts, and then shorts. Doesn't seem right for work, and doesnt fit with the formality of the commissioner (always wearing full uniform) and the formality (long trousers and all) of all the other uniforms - surely there'd be a dress code.

I think the series has done remarkably well with the change in characters, and te fact it is basically the same story each week Grin. We love it here.

Davros · 20/02/2017 22:22

Florence's clothes are not much different to Camille's though

Clawdy · 20/02/2017 22:25

Yes, Camille always wore lovely tops and shorts. Just part of the fun, really.

OP posts:
BackforGood · 20/02/2017 22:26

Yes, thats my point really. In reality, why do all female detectives have to dress in bum skimming shorts? Thats not my experience of what people wear at work in the Caribbean.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 20/02/2017 22:54

I like him, I liked the line about "most detectives look like me".

I saw an old one on Alibi when Kris Marshall joined, I'd forgotten how arsey Camille was with him, she spent the first 40 minutes rolling her eyes and tutting under her breath. Get overly yourself love! She is beautiful though.

Iamastonished · 20/02/2017 23:06

"But I still have a special dance to go with theme music"

So do we Grin

Davros · 20/02/2017 23:22

I'm going to start my own dance now, great idea Grin

SinisterBumFacedCat · 20/02/2017 23:25

We do a bouncy dance

MipMipMip · 20/02/2017 23:57

The explanation of this week's crime went on WAY too long. I'm reserving judgement but think it will be ok.

Fiderer · 21/02/2017 07:51

I find it impossible not to start my seated dancing when the theme tune starts.
I enjoy the predictability. Murder. Theme tune. Heh? Who? How? Why? Then aha! Gather all the suspects. Catherine's bar.

It has its own flavour, like Lewis had, or Endeavour. But I don't have to think too hard Grin

pho3be · 21/02/2017 09:10

At least they didn't suddenly kill him off like Ben Miller!
As pp said, the best thing about the show is the setting but i would've liked a bit of totty Grin
I hated Camille, stunning yes & loved her clothes but so sarky & grumpy. I hate that female role of always rolling eyes at dumb men

Clawdy · 21/02/2017 10:55

No,no, Camille was wonderful, my girlie crush! So incredibly gorgeous, and I used to love the underlying chemistry between her and Ben Miller. Ah, those were the days!

I see an Inspector Dougal and Catherine romance in the next series - assuming there is one, I've not actually heard yet.

I quite like him though. I remember being unimpressed when Humphrey first turned up, partly because I felt they'd made a bit too much effort in making him nothing like the previous inspector.

I might have to find the earlier series to go and watch!

Glad I'm not the only dancer Grin

icelolly99 · 26/02/2017 00:24

Yes, daughter is a bit too smiley....
Kris Marshall: does any one else think he may be hoping to be considered as the new Doctor?!.... Shock

Jaynebxl · 26/02/2017 06:55

There's definitely a new series coming... the announcer said so as the credits rolled. And I think you're right about the romance. Hope so anyway! Would be nice for Catherine to do something more than just float around serving beers. Mind you it is only about a month and a half since his wife died, isn't it?

Lessthanaballpark · 26/02/2017 07:04

"I hate that female role of always rolling eyes at dumb men"

Oh God yes. And Camille was always made to be wrong! Whoever she suspected at the beginning- you knew that person wasn't going to be the murderer!

I like them all and think the daughter's character will probably develop as they get a storyline for her.

Also agree re Catherine and Dougal. Her character is vastly underused IMO.

ChoccyJules · 26/02/2017 22:35

Just caught up with latest episode and we thought the motive an murder were a bit far-fetched this week, just didn't seem as though that would happen for those reasons.

Graphista · 26/02/2017 23:19

You wouldn't kill to keep your children? I would!

Writer or producer has apparently said no romance for now - too soon after death of wife. I actually like the idea of a different dynamic as both past leads were single no kids. Will be nice to see a widower and father who will have a different perspective on life.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 26/02/2017 23:29

I liked it when Ben Miller was in it. Was gutted when he got killed off in his own murder mystery.
